Hi All,
So typical...If the Islamic world showed the same outrage over these stupid cartoons towards ridding their religion of these nutcases I bet this whole terrorist movement would have been over a long time ago. Why is it thousands of Muslims can rise up and burn down foreign embassies, call for violence against "Enemies" of Islam, yet don't act to kill off the extremists?

I kinda like that he apparently completely missed the point, that it wasn't 1 cartoonist, but 12. It only adds to the general suspicion that 99% of the people who are torching embassies, making death threats & urge suicide bombings in Denmark, have no idea what the drawings depict, and what the whole point of them were.

Tmatt95, one of the pillars of islam is to give part of ones earnings to charity, between the millions of muslims living accross the world today, collectively I can assure you they give plenty more than a measly 1 million dollars toward ridding the world of hunger and poverty. Wingscrubber, I was not being negative about the religion. I was only pointing out that in my opinion, there are a lot better things to put the money towards, instead of a bounty for killing a cartoonist
regards
Matt

To think, the Danish paper originally printed the cartoons because it wanted to challenge the fact that everyone was too afraid to depict the prophet.
.......and it seems that they were correct. I don't believe that Islam is as peaceful as it claims.

"Whoever has done this despicable and shameful act, he has challenged the honor of Muslims. Whoever will kill this cursed man, he will get $1 million dollars from the association of the jewelers bazaar, one million rupees ($16,700) from Masjid Mohabat Khan and 500,000 rupees ($8,350) and a car from Jamia Ashrafia as a reward," Qureshi said.
Save the honor of all muslims! Kill as many "cursed" unarmed cartoonists as possible!!! That will prove our amazing honor shall prevail! Allah Akbar!

Quoting Sv7887 (Reply 1): thousands of Muslims can rise up
Quoting Sv7887 (Reply 1): burn down foreign embassies
when taking note of that thing, I found it most thorouhly ridiculous, even if possibly really serious. Your generalisation "the Islamic" and "burning down embassies" (dozens ? ) however show that the REAL damage the idiot caused is that he enflamed people in the West --- and encouraged prejudice.
Quoting Aloges (Reply 14): a fatwah on me for this pic I made?
yes, for reminding me to buy a "Bounty" on my way home, in spite of the point that I should rather reduce weight !

Lordy lordy... The problem is NOT the depiction of the Prophet, though it may be wrong...
The problem is countries like Pakistan, Iran etc stuffer from poor economies, huge income inequalities between the social classes, low wages, high unemplyoment, low literacy... and the list can go on and on.
Put that money towards some good use, instead of wasting it on rewarding a killer. It never ceases to amaze me what crazy people will do to further their crazy agenda.
absolutely ! whenever it is ridiculous, it in fact indeed IS dangerous
Quoting CPH-R (Reply 2): have no idea what the drawings depict
yes, most of them have NEVER seen any of the cartoons
Quoting CPH-R (Reply 2): that he apparently completely missed the point, that it wasn't 1 cartoonist, but 12.
well, that would make it rather a campaign
Quoting Slider (Reply 6): 'm glad I didn't go to art school.
just heard that the glaciers on Greenland are retreating (a serious matter btw). The "freed" spaces possibly will become settled by Danish cartoonists ?
the matter does sound ridiculous, BUT I hope the 12 men NOW really ARE most careful and considerate ! I do NOT have much knowdlege if any about the Danish police, but hope that they are up to the situation. In Switzerland, "authorities" handled the case of an ATC-guide, involved in an aircrash north of Lake Constance, a bit leniently, and clearly contributed to make the revenge murder against him by an indirect victim possible (even if they all deny everything). Such things have to be taken REALLY seriously.

Quoting DL021 (Reply 19): Why is that wrong but it's ok to make a sculpture of Jesus Christ from animal dung? Where's your outrage?
Who said anything about dung statues of Jesus? That's just as wrong, if not worse. And I'm not Muslim; so I'm not "outraged" as you put it, about the cartoons. Nor I am I Christian, so be honest, I wouldn't be "outraged" by a dung statute of Jesus; however, I would (and do) find it in very poor taste.

Indeed. Look at the picture below (courtesy Spiegel Online, DPA).
Apparently they would like to hang our Vice-Chancellor, although he didn't even state an opinion concerning the cartoons and protests. Maybe they don't dare to hang or even touch a doll symbolizing a woman ... who knows. Dickheads ...

I'm not getting too involved in this debate because it is a little passé and I don't need any more rude PMs. But I will say that decomposing this situation down to an "us" versus "them" deal is not the right way to go.
