I completely agree with the idea of what you are saying.
I don't think Bonds makes it in the Hall first ballot. The man cheated the game of baseball by taking 'roids. He's a 'roid head. I don't think the game has ever seen a single seasn to seasn body mass improvement other than what Bonds did. You simply don't build muscle mass that much without help. Anywya. I'll be glad to see him leave the game. The guy is a joke. Now he wants everyone to feel sorry for him because the media is "picking on him". Get over yourself, you sorry, pathetic excuse for a ball player.

I guess he ought to be durable, given all the steroids he's probably taken. Given that he and McGwire - among others - attained their records while being juiced, I'm not so sure he will get in on the first ballot. Especially if he is indicted or otherwise exposed in the ongoing BALCO follies.
After all, if it were based only on statistics, Pete Rose ought to be in the HOF.

The only thing that would keep him out on the first ballot would be a positive test for steroids. Regardless of most people's opinion of him as a person, it will be damn tough to justify keeping the best player of a generation out of the hall of fame without concrete evidence like a positive test. Bonds without steroids is still the best player of his generation, that's how talented he is.
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems with just potatoes.

This whole soap opera has been very well crafted....from his knee injury and subsequent weight loss ("didn't want to put as much stress on the knee"), to the timeline of the steroid testing and hearings, it's no coincidence in my book. No freaking way. This is all a well orchestrated and finely concocted scheme. It's almost so well done it's laughable if it weren't tainting the integrity of the game.

Well, take away a third of those home runs and he still has 471 left, plus over 500 stolen bases, and 8 golden gloves. Plus, something a lot of people forget is that he has become a much better hitter over the last four of five years because he is more patient at the plate. Bonds in 1990 would have been consistently hitting 40-50 home runs a season with the patience he has today. Plate dicipline has made a greater impact on his stats the last few years than the extra muscle built from steroids. The guy hit .370 a few years back. Do you think steroids gave him the combination of patience and hand-eye coordination needed for that?

The steroids probably kept him healthy enough to make all those plate appearances.
Look, there's no doubt Bonds is/was an incredible talent. But we all know that Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth didn't use steriods to reach 700 home runs, and if Bonds did use steriods, it makes his "achievement" somewhat hollow.
