alternate title- "know who your real friends are"

Beginning of September-
Lubcha132 meets a girl he likes that might actually like her back. He is so happy he tells one of his "friend"s, Satan bin Laden. Now, Satan is a very impatient "person" and he wanted me to have asked her out by the 2nd week of school. Now, I was just passing this off as his immaturity. According to one of my friends (note no quotes), he was dropping her hints like the 8th air force dropped bombs on europe. We are currently unsure if she knows or not. The -fun- hasn't stopped yet. I could have been happy not knowing that someone else asked her out, but thanks to Satan that joyous moment was shattered. Apparently, she said no, but if she had not heard what she had heard about this guy, she would've said yes. Of course, according to Satan this was my fault. As the week went on, Satan and the girl i like seem to be getting better and better friends, but he knows better than asking her out. Here's why I finally decided to post this for all you good, intellectual understanding people (no sarcasm, you guys/girls are great people):

The SOB that Satan is, he decides to talk to her about me. The real clincher is what he does with the information. They talk on AOL/AIM, and then he sends me the transcription of their convo's about me. UNSOLICITED, may I add. It started with the "do you know (lubcha132)" etc., but now the IM's are getting longer. I don't want the irritation so i delete the IMs without reading them. So i am stuck not knowing what she thinks of me and what he has told her. He is not the definitive source for information on me. Now, I am realizing that people who i had underestimated our friendships are better friends than others who i overestimated our friendships (i have "hypothetically" asked this question to several FRIENDS)

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Thanks a lot!

Josh

I've been here before, a guy friend was ignorant and a girl friend who I had a brief thing for was really arrogant; it went sour, so I am going to help you so that it wont.

Dude, as much as it would/could be potentialy fatal, tell Satan to go to hell - figuratively - you say that and he'll tell her something else, right? If I was in your situtaion I'd get all shy and scared and procrastinate for like 3 weeks before I'd follow my own advice.

As a must, TRY to talk to her youself for a long time. Somehow think of a way to get her away from "him" if necessary.

Lubcha132, she has to hear from you, all this time she's been hearing about you from Satan, who has been twisting some facts, am I right? You have to talk to her, now! Don't bring up Satan, otherwise she's think you're bashing her new friend, get pissed and not talk to you further. Just you and her, don't neglict to say stuff, let her do the thinking.

Tell us what happened when it does, a'ight? See ya tomara! Big grin

Hummm....

I'd love to have sympthay for ya but you gotta learn sooner or later that chicks just aren't worth the trouble. The guy did you huge favor....

But since you are a hormone charged teenager and won't listen to good adult advice...

I'd say print out the IM messages, chop off his dogs head, and put the dogs head in his underware drawer with the IM printout in it's mouth....

No dog? Cat's are even better.....

Exactly what has happened.

I plan on talking to her at the football game tomorrow, but it might be hard to get her at a moment when he is not around.

I'll check this post in the morning for any last minute advice.

Also, if i do make my move, where is a good place to go on a 1st date?

Last min advice: talk to her, try sensing what she's interested in and what you know a lot about and impress her by giving her detailed technical data about it. I don't mean planes, girls find guys who talk about planes kinda weird, talk about the net, computers...
Be nice, smile, don't mention sex (!) and ask her out at the end. A good place would be the movies or perhaps a cafe' - that usually works. Sit opposite her, buy her a drink, look at her, be nice, smile...
If she likes you at least a bit, that should work.
Good luck!

Dunno, if you can't get her to go out anywhere, ask her to the movies. I have no experience with that myself but it works for a lot of ppl. Or just ask her straight to bed  Big grin

Here's what I was thinking of doing-

I am thinking of going over to her and telling her that I know that Satan is talking about me with her, and I don't know what is being spoken about (even though i received the im's and promptly deleted them), and I would rather her hear it straight from me that I like her and ask her to do something that way.

I don't seem to have any other ideas.

Hello,

I enjoyed reading your post and can somehow relate it to something that happened me. I just had to accept it, move on and forget it and in time, slowly, everything impoved. I honestly think you made one great point in your post:

"Now, I am realizing that people who i had underestimated our friendships are better friends than others who i overestimated our friendships (i have "hypothetically" asked this question to several FRIENDS)"

It put me thinking, thinking how much sense that statement made. It definitely fits in some other cases I can think about.

just talk, open up, be honest, don't hide anything. That's the best way of solving everything.

this is my 4th or so idea, and it sounds better than the others

when satan is nowhere to be found i am going to talk to her and tell her the whole situation about him telling me what they talk about, and that in fact i do like her and would like to get together to talk

Lubcha:
1. Tell Satan that you don't want him to interfere with your relationship with that girl.
2. When Satan is not around, talk to her, explain everything and ask her out.

Turbolet has made what I said earlier it it's most simplest form, Lubcha132, you got to do it.

Remember, look into her eyes, don't make yourself sound bad and only ask her out if you are comfortable.

If she ever smiles, that is a plus!

Good luck dude!

Smiles are not everything, though. Some people smile mechanically (quite a lot of FAs actually) and others just don't smile so often. So don't let yourself be too misguided by the smile.
It does give a little indication tho, you have to feel out if she really means it and why she is smiling.

Yeah, I humbly think I've learnt to recognise that kind of smile and I can tell why a girl is smiling. I also go by the hair loose/hair tied-up thing when trying to determine if she likes me. Many girls wear their hair loose or tied-up only so that makes it hard to utilize sometimes.
