Wow... I grew up watching the world of Mayberry (in reruns, I'm not THAT old), and Three's Company - he was my favorite (after Terri)... Anyway, sad to see him go, he was one of the quintessential funny men.
RIP Mr. Furley.
This is your captain speaking. I’ve turned off the no-smokin’ sign. Hell, if the plane is smokin' why can't you?

Here was a guy who entertained several generations of Americans and was funny to every one of them. From his tours in the South Pacific in the Army during the war, to his tv comedic career in which he was on hit television shows as a critical character from the 50's to the 80's (he appeared in television shows through last year and always was immediately recognizable), to his movie career where he played impossibly funny guys you wanted to strangle but loved.
This guy made me laugh. I'll miss his work and his persona entertaining me.

As a huge Andy Griffith Show fan, Deputy Barney Fife was my favorite character in the show. A truly funny and beloved gentleman. He will sorely be missed.

Hiya BAB . . . how's the big sand box?
Yup, Don Knotts and Tim Conway, hilarious . . . they couldn't catch a break. Conway is a classic comic as well . . . like Don Knotts, a surely passing breed.
Remember Conway as the old supervisor and Carol Burnett as Mrs. (ah)Wiggins in the Carol Burnett Show . . .

How in the hell do you think it is?!? Not bad for me, except the weather. I've got r&r this weekend, but had to start the day with an extensive de-brief and sit-rep regarding my previous mission Also, I just received my first command, so I'm balls deep in that now. My CO tells me I can sleep in April
What outfit is your brother with? I wanna see if y'all have the same hair cut
Go find those Navy guys running the river patrol out between Iraq and Iran - you'll find him there, askfor a schmuck named Earl . . . . look for a guy standing behind twin .50s . . . that'll be him . . .
And yes, the haircut is the same, mine because it looks 'good', his because he's Navy and he's lazy . . . .

I loved the Fife character. An overzealous Deputy in a town where the town drunk turned himself in every night, and the most heinous crime was an illegal still somewhere in the woods. Man! If life were truly that simple.
I also enjoyed his character in the "Ghost and Mr. Chicken".
Cheers to the old Mayberry Gang! Must be a party going in "Floyd's Barbershop in the sky".

Now, people are calling me Jesus Christ? Holy shit. I wonder if that is a step up or down from being called God?
I guess Andy Griffith has his fingers crossed.
