What To Do In Cali Colombia?

I’ll be down there March 23 and staying until the weekend. I’m pretty much open to any and all fun activities, and my budget should definitely cover me for a stay at a nice hotel, going out every night and doing some shopping.
Thus some Bar/Club/Hotel recommendations would be appreciated.

Also:

Is the Intercontinental hotel close to the popular clubs and bars of the city? (walking distance)
Any bar recommendations for watching a Deportivo Cali vs America de Cali match or any football match really.
Where can I find great Colombian food? (Doesn’t matter if it’s a hole in the wall or has a 4 star rating)
Is a day trip to Buenaventura worth the journey and if so, what’s the best method of getting there; Bus, private car, Chiva?
Oh, I’ve seen pictures of a church that’s sits in between two mountains. (Sorry don’t know what’s called) Is this church in or around Cali?
It’s also the weekend of my birthday so any recommendations on an upscale/trendy club/bar would also be appreciated.
Many thanks.

Don't forget to wear your flak jacket.

Sorry, only know about the north coast (Barranquilla, Cartagena & Santa Marts).

Sicker than hell..... but that was my first thought as well.

(I am so against "powder")

I think ordering in from room service (?) would be in order and to show up at the gate an hour early to make sure you can get the h*ll out.

BTW.....Happy Birthday in advance.

A guy I know had a colleague who went to Cali to fix a Cessna Conquest that one of their customers owned.

Apparently the customer had some shit going on that the mechanic didn't know about, because on the last day there some dude opened up on Ricardo's BMW with a submachine gun. Nobody got hurt but they probably had to use a block and tackle to get the seat out of the guy's ass.

It certainly isn't, in case you were being serious. The best powder obviously goes to the US and is the one that most American teenagers are consuming, be sure of that. The powder found here is expensive and of bad quality I hear.

Cali has been hit extremely hard by narco activities over the years. Poverty is all over the place and the richer societies are often those related to narco-traffic. There are sure a couple of interesting places to visit, and, depending on your taste, you could find plenty of pretty women also. But, as a whole, I really didn't like the city and I didn't find one single reason to go back. I would much prefer visiting Bogota instead, much safer and way more interesting in every aspect [except women, curiously].

...Oh, and absolutely forget about the Buenaventura idea. Trust me.

Medellin is the best city in Colombia. Hottest women there too.

Okay,
no more references about controlled substances. I don’t partake in drug activities in America and I’m not going to partake in any in Colombia.
I always show respect and courtesy when posting in other peoples threads and I only expect the same courtesy when other people post in mine. So please stop hijacking my thread with stereotypical prejudices about Colombian culture. Last time I checked, the U.S. is the one with the drug problems not Colombia.

See but then Americans get all bent out of shape when they are criticized about their culture, but are the first to pull out the punches.

If you don't like the heat then you know what to do!

Quite honestly, the Colombian poster reactions to such affronts as seen here has been no less than godly!

People from the US piss me off whenever I talk about going to Colombia. I went down there and lived for about 6 months, and all I heard when I told people about going to Colombia was "Did you get alot of Coke there?" Colombia is a fine country, its my favorite one outside of Italy. Bogota is an awesome city, Cartegena is full of history, Santa Marta is a blast. I got to disagree with UAL777, Cali has the hottest women. Medellin women are good too tho  Wink I learned that from experience. But you should have a fine time in Cali. Lots of good restaurants. I wouldn't go to Buenaventura either. I agree with SouthAmerica on that one.

I’ve also heard that the women of Cali are some of the hottest around. This website posts pictures of a new Calena every month.

Stop the stereotype, the powder is better wherever you are in the US than any place here.

I'm fed up of this.

757MDE- I agree totally. US people have no idea how things are down there. No clue. Just like the best coke, the best Coffee gets sent out to US too. I do hate the stereotype that Colombia has gotten from the US Media and from uneducated opinions. It was the safest place I was ever at, and it was probably the most beautiful place I was ever at...in women and in landscapes. I'm looking forward to possibly going down there in May or June, If I go in June, I'd catch the new n/s LAX-BOG service on AV.

Every time I visit a new place, I like to explore it on my own. Taking the correct security precautions, you should go out and discover what Cali has to offer. I have never been there, but I would not mind a few days in the exotic Colombia!

Oh I found out the name of this church. It’s called Santuario De Las Lajas. Unfortunately it’s another city south of Cali, thus it's bit out of my way.
