Simple question.

Have you ever broken or had broken a bone in your body.

I'll start.

-Small bone in the side of my foot, caused, when i slipped in Portugal, next to the pool in 1999.
-Hip Broken (surgery) 2005
-Thigh bone above knee (surgery) 2005

That's my list.

I've never broken a bone even though im stupid and used to jump off my mates roof, crashing my cycle into cars (moving and stationary) But a couple of weeks ago i thought i had broken my wrist but it was just some trapped nerve I managed this as i was riding my bike turnt the handle's to far, Bike stopped suddenly, i didnt and landed on my wrist and this hurt less than when i was standing on my bike doing no-handed fell foward, I was going quite fast, my hand got dragged into the wheel i grapped a spoke so the bike done a back wheelie. I forgot to let go of the wheel and dragged the bike thorugh the air somehow. How fun so no none for me as of yet!

I also broke a bone going UP stairs, completely sober. I was, however, going up them in total darkness (my own stairs, I thought I knew them). Tripped, reached out to break my fall, and somehow broke a metacarpal in my hand.

Also broke my leg playing lacrosse, but at least that wasn't an embarrassing excuse.

Some over the net, some from a private collection of previous cases. Of course, patient confidentiality is assured.

But I indeed like the forearm one. Do you want to see what we do with those? Needles and fixation (well, actually a similar fracture - Monteggia fracture)

Sometimes we use devices to support the limb while the fracture heals:

And much more. I just thought the topic could use some "imaging" for illustration.

Cheers

Nose when I was 5, Dad playfully chasing me through the living room, socks on a waxed wood floor, slipped and went through the front window.
Collar bone when I was 10, fell off a garage roof.
Broken finger in high school from gym.
Broken jaw from falling on carrying handle of M16.
Broken foot in 2 places breaking off tree branch, dropped outside the drop zone. Then force marched 12 miles on it. Not a pretty sight when my boot was cut off.
Broken nose, rappelling out of UH1H and hit the brake way to early, got to eat some skid.
Broken ribs in helicopter crash.
Broken finger, actually cut off on pipe laying barge in gulf of mexico. Reattached and healed.
Broken nose fooling around with girlfriend, she had a hard head.
Broken toes, swept onto rock in high surf in Lake Erie.
More broken toes on sailboat deck hardware.
Broken finger, actually same finger cutoff again at UPS when extending rail unexpectedly retracted. Finger reattached and what a great doctor, hardly any scarring at all.

And those are just the broken bones, luckily we're not talking sprains or the page would be much longer.
