Ok so most of you figured it out. Yes I know how to spell QANTAS!. I was bored last night, and I knew that my "What does the U in Quantas stand for". Would get alot of a.netters panties in a bind. Actually it had been a LONG time since I laughed so hard reading some of the responses.

Wow, didn't realize that these forums suddenly must be void of any humorous content, no offence intended. Was just trying to get a laugh since obviously the thread starter was looking for one.....read the intial post and maybe try not to take things so seriously, laughing sometimes helps...jeeez.  banghead

Thank you but I was already fully aware of this fact. The point is that the threadstarter was looking for a laugh to the responses:

Because most works in the English language that begin qith Q are followed by a U:

question, quail, quick, etc...

Quantas

In the english language the letter Q is almost always followed with the letter U (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q) except in very rare circumstances. Most people don't realize that Qantas is an acronym and don't realize that this doesnt apply.

Its funny, Americans always manage to mis-spell 'QANTAS' but ask any of them to spell 'IRAQ' and I bet you no-one will screw that up. Probably because they have been there for the last 20 years.

I knew it was only a matter of time before a joke thread on the mispelling of an Australian airline would come around to the American occupation of Iraq.

When we were kids, we used to call it:

Queer
And
Nervous
Try
Another
Service

Not very funny I know, but we were kids and thought we were comic geniuses at the time.

Wow - lame thread.

Australians only go angry at people who can't spell Qantas when they do it unintentionally.
