LOL if you see some old guy on a rocking chair with a shotgun you dont exactly do anything to piss him off now do ya!!

Apart from that maybe he should've put a small fence around his property istead of going and killing the guy!

It's about time some of the kids today started to learn respect for other people's property.
However, I do feel a flesh wound would have sufficed in this case

But no, I see the old mans point, you work on your lawn for years, and then some kid walks over it! I mean, everyone knows that lawns and grass break and die as soon as someone steps on them  sarcastic

I had read that the kid and his family had caused issues for this guy in the past and there seemed to be some animosity between them. I don't think we know the whole story yet. Perhaps the kid was up to something? I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. Unless the kid was threatening him a flesh wound or at least a shot to the kneecap would have sufficed.

lawn-owners may learn respect for other lives when the killer gets sentenced for murder. I mean, a person who shoots when feeling offended by people trespassing his law is a dangerous murderer. A lifer, to be released in 18 years in 2024 .

That's how we keep our guns loaded. The first shot is a blank, the second shot is rock salt, and the third shot is a live bullet. If you don't get the hint after two shots I would have to say you're getting what you deserve.

Ignoring the story for a minute, take a look at what CNN passes off as English.

Martin, 66, allegedly told police he had several times had problems with neighbors walking on his lawn. He remained jailed without bond Monday. His jailers said no attorney was listed for him.

Is this a joke? Are language levels in the US this poor?

I certainly hope not but it wouldn't surprise me. Text messaging and the hip hop culture have been a horrible diservice to our language unfortunately.
