Your company headquarters is in Santa Monica??? No Way! I currently live in NYC but I moved here from L.A. a month over a year ago, and I used to live in Santa Monica!!! Santa Monica is my home!!! Where do you stay when you are there? The Miramar Sheraton (now Fairmont Miramar)? Shutters on the Beach? Loews? Do you have time to shop on Third Street Promenade? Walk on out the pier? I used to live right down there on the beach on the PCH. I miss it! I can't wait to move back to Southern California!
I bet you've been to Rage, Micky's or Revolver in WeHo a few times..hehehe

Stayed at Shutters once, it was very nice. But our company usually puts us up at the Miramar. Very nice hotel. I love Santa Monica, it's probably one of the nicest areas in L.A. The Third street promenade is usually my second home while I am there, there was an excellent Thai restaurant up one end near the book store and there is plenty of entertainment and shops to look at.
Our office is on the 9th / 10th floor of 1299 Ocean Avenue - the wedge / triangular shaped building about a block away from the Miramar heading south.
Been to Rage & Micky's a few times...lol.. I am not sure about Revolver? Is that further up SM Blvd? About this time last year I went to a super cool club called "Circus", it was huge and had 3 floors of music. They had all these cool giveaways and I won some latino dance contest. How embarassing! I must say it's fun driving up Santa Monica Bvld to WeHo on a sunny summer afternoon in a convetible - talk about cruisy!
Also got to go to "Skylounge" (I think that's what it's called) on Sunset, it was the hippest place to go in LA at that time.

Skybar sounds right. I am usually a little tipsy by the time I get to these places, typical Aussie who has to get pissed (drunk) to have fun. The liquor licencing laws are strict in LA, I had to show ID to get into both Rage and Micky's. Rage is the glamour (or was) and Micky's was more down to earth. I found it funny that people had to smoke outside on the balcony's but couldn't take their drink outside... Being the partyboy I smoked and drank and did the following, found myself a spot half outside & half inside - drink in the right hand - cigarrette in the other. lol cheeky Aussie that I am.
I usually get to LA twice a year or sometimes more depending on what the office needs me to do.
I also usually fly United business class to LAX, their service is pretty good, only hear mixed stuff about their coach class though.
So when do you think you'll be hitting our sunny shores?

I've wanted to go to Australia for YEARS! I'm also a big Olympic fan and this years games would have been the perfect combination of the two for me, my "dream" olympics if you will. Oh well, didn't work out. I'll be flying United down there when I go. Honestly, I'd rather fly on Qantas, but given that I could PAY for a coach ticket on Qantas or fly UAL business non-rev...well, which do you think I'm gonna take in the final analysis?
I won't go to Sydney until after I move back to L.A. I'm tentatively planning to move back in January or February but when I actually make it down to Australia is up in the air (no pun intended) :-P
You must be at work right now....it's 10:30pm Sunday night here in NYC..so that makes it 1:30pm Monday in Sydney...I'll be going to bed soon, in about an hour an a half after the prime time Olympic broadcast ends..
