He'll come under incredible pressure from those in his party to stand down. This is probably only fighting talk - a way of making him look stronger so he can get the education reforms through. If he runs in the next election, he'll lose to Cameron.

IMO, if a world leader serves for two consecutive terms (4 years, 7 years...whatever), then the opposing parties will always find something, no matte how small, to fault that person on and ask for his/her resignation. They just want someone knew to fill the position thinking they will bring change. Unfortunately, with the likes of Blair and Bush, those guys have the little issue of war in Iraq to defend when under fire.
Here in Ireland, almost everyday someone somewhere is claiming that a minister (even the PM) should resign over xyz. It's funny!

He's been PM for a long time now and even though i've had my doubts about him and his party i do believe he's done his best...Gordon Brown as PM though i really do not want to see. As for Blair changing his mind, why not? Is it set in stone that one you tender your resignation that you have to leave? Did he make it official? If he did, he is the PM after all......i believe that more and more people (be it from his party, the press or joe public) are thinking of the phrase 'familiarity breeds contempt'. It's a shame, i don't agreee with everything he does, but i do believe he's done his best for the UK and made a long lasting impact. When he does retire i hope he enjoys it as it's got to be well deserved.
