Where Are The Pac 10 Haters Now?

Let's see......

Big 10- OUT
ACC- OUT
Big 12- OUT

Meanwhile the Pac 10 was the last of those conferences to go down to 1 team I believe.... And UCLA is playing increadibly well..... Washington took UCon to overtime, losing because the officiating was horse s**t.

Nice showing Oklahoma
Nice showing Ohio State
Wow...UCon and Duke? That sure is embarassing.
Memphis is done.

And what are we left with? Another Pac 10 team in the Final Four. Again. Nearly two.

What about the scare that Villanova got from Arizona, a team that placed fourth in the Pac-10?

Seeing no Big East and Big Ten, *with* a Pac-10 is some sweet redemption for a conference that's always labeled "overrated." I just loved hearing the comments from people that "west coast teams suck" (an actual quote). None of them have anything to say now.

Lest ye forget the actions of one Mike Jensen late in the game, fouling the UConn player who made the layup, thus placing UConn in a position to get the game tying layup one possession later...wonder how many times he's been burned in effigy in Seattle?

Aside from that, the Pac-10 did do a great job this year...and UCLA might be the favorite now to win it all...that's who my pick is at the moment...

And UCLA has been my pick since the beginning. I have the bracket to prove it I'll go ahead and scan for certain members who will call me a liar.

UCLA found it's stride late in the season. They've won an insane number of games in a row. I think it's something like 20 now. They are the team to beat, and no one knew it until now. Sad, really. Sad.

I do expect to hear "Well they got lucky" from the usual haters here. Just remember. The Pac consistantly gets 1 or 2 teams in the Final Four.

As I know that the majority of these little digs and mention of the 'haters' are aimed predominantly at me, I would first like to remind you how stupid this is. The worst thing I have said about the Pac-10 is that it is not a 'top 3' conference. Now, I for one, intend to keep this discussion objective and not be the one to act like a kindergartener who had his ball taken. And if you want to talk about my 'east coast bias', 'pac 10 hatred' , or whatever you choose to call it, tell me that when i'm watching the game rooting for Washington over UConn. You have no idea. Also, you've been an outspoken SEC 'hater', how about their 2 teams in the Final Four?

To the tourney...

Outstanding runs by Washington and UCLA. Miserable showing by the Big Ten and others. Not going to take anything away from them, but you must realize that a single NCAA tournament cannot act as a barometer. The reason is simply this- its called 'March Madness' for a reason. Gonzaga doesn't collapse, UCLA is gone. UConn doesnt step up clutch, Washington might still be here. Hail Mary shot by NW State doesnt go in, who knows, Iowa might've made a run. When the dust settles, it's still a mess. That is why it is necessary to look at trends.

Quoting S12PPL (Reply 3):

That is a ridiculous statement. I have already established with you that the Pac 10 sees a team in the final four every 3-4 years on average. You can't argue with the facts.

Final Four appearances (since 1986)

Pac 10- 6
Big Ten- 15
ACC- 21
SEC- 10
Big 12- 11

So in summary, great performance by the Pac 10 tournament teams. If they continue to play that way in the future, the lines of distinction will blur with the very top conferences. All i'm saying here: don't wet your pants, S12PPL. The Big Ten had 3 Elite Eight teams and 2 Final Four's last year. You need to put things into perspective.

Sorry, but UCLA played with composure. They fought back, and took advantage of POOR play by Gonzaga down the stretch. Good teams do that. Bad teams don't. Period.

How soon we forget that the officiating was total horse s**t in that game.....

Hail Mary shot by NW State doesnt go in, who knows, Iowa might've made a run.

Sorry, but you are forgetting something. Like how Iowa flat out f**king collapsed down the stretch in the last 10 minutes of that game. That was pathetic. They stopped playing basketball, and NW State took advantage. I don't want to hear about that "miracle" shot, because Iowa was up 15 points.

3 out of four Pac 10 teams made it out of the first round. What'd the Big 10 do again in the first round? Meanwhile, the 3 Pac 10 teams that won, flat out beat the living hell out of they're oponents. Everyone else struggled. That's what good teams do. Yes, UCLA had trouble in round 2, and so did Washington, but that is what happens when you take the 64 best teams in the nation, and put them in one tournament. As you win your first round or two, all of a sudden the talent gets better.....

Stop trying to explain away the Pac 10's talent. They always have at least 2 teams that make a great run in the tournament.

I'll make the obvious trump of this comment....."nearly two" is not quite as good as a definite two:

LSU and Florida in the Final Four. 2 teams from the SEC.

But yet you completely discount the presence of two SEC teams in the final four. Washington being close only counts in hand grenade throwing. They aren't there because they couldn't finish it off.

I'm going for an all SEC championship game.

No kidding...it gets really old. I go to Washington State, too, so I'm a Pac-10 supporter. I only wish that Washington would've pulled it off over UConn so that we could lay claim to beating an Elite Eight team twice this season. Oh well, beating a Sweet 16 team twice is pretty impressive too.  Smile

SEC is one of the toughest conferences out there.

If a team I like wins....they are really good!!!
If a team I like loses...the referees sucked!!!

If a team from a non Pac 10 conference loses in heatbreaking fashion to a non Pac 10 team.....they made absolute fools of themselves and must face Satan's wrath.

If a team from a non Pac 10 conference loses in heartbreaking fashion to a Pac 10 team....it was because of the superior opponent and unbelievable pressure.

I think i got it now.

As a fan, I want Florida to win it all - wouldn't mind LSU a bit and GMU would be wild and kind of cool. However for my a.net bracket the most important thing is that FL and UCLA not win it all but one more win for UCLA would help. Gaaagh, my head hurts.

Do you disagree that Iowa fell the f**k apart, and blew a 15 point lead? Or did I make that up? Was it staged by CBS that they would invent Iowa blowing a 15 point lead to a team that wasn't that good?

My point is EVERYONE, and I do mean EVERYONE said the Pac 10 sucked this year. Then they went out and proved everyone wrong once again. Like they do all the time. UCLA lost to Memphis earlier this year when they were hurting do to injuries. Then they went and beat them in the tournament.

By the way, your little formula for figuring me out is a load of crap.

Do you deny the officials totally ass raped USC in the Rose Bowl? Do you deny they were way less than good in the Washington/UConn game? If you do, you are truely full of it. Arizona just ran out of gas against 'Nova. Call gift wrapped the game and gave it to NC State. I don't deny that. Yet, according to you...I say Cal lost because the refs sucked, and 'Zona lost because the hoops were crooked.

Get a fricken clue.
