I'll be staying overnight in ATL on Apr 5th and I'm looking for a hotel near the airport (arriving in the evening and departing in the morning) that has good airline staff rates.

Any suggestions?  Smile

I already know of the Marriot but unfortunately they seem to be full on that date...  Sad

The Renaissance would be my pick. Nice rooms & facilities. Not the cheapest place in the world, but a great view of the action at ATL.

I also stayed at the Marriott there in January that you mentioned & it was nice. Still like the Renaissance better.

Renessance hotel is $89 a night for regular people. I guess they would have some discount rates for airline employees.
Thats the best hotel to stay in at ATL.

The Renaissance is awesome! Last time I stayed there I got a room overlooking terminal E. Great view. It came up in the $80's range.. and I know that they offer airline staff rates.

Oh.. and the rooms aren't so bad either  Wink

Airport Hilton, across from what I seem to recall as the DL Corporate Offices, is very nice. Big, spatious beds and not too expensive

Stay away from the hotels that aren't in the vicinity of the airport proper (for example, a hotel in Forest Park would advertise itself as "Airport" hotel.)

I spent a morning in the Rennaissance with three other men (well two other men and CastleIsland). Sometimes, if you want to gawk at planes, you have to deal with funy looks from the hotel staff.

I too will cast my vote for the Renaissance. Great facilities for an airport hotel, not to mention ridiculously close to the action and rooms that afford unbeatable views (for weirdos like us).

Is it the Renaissance Concourse Hotel you're all talking about?
I'm only getting some $200+ rates with them...

Yes, call them directly though. I just searched and the website said they have no rooms available.

Be careful with your choice as the surrounding area can be a bit suspect. The Renaissance and Hilton on the north side of the field are good. Don't go farther north than that unless you go all the way to downtown. There is a Sheraton, Courtyard, and Hampton Inn on the SW side of the field on Sullivan Road that are ok. Don't go across 285 on Riverdale Road though as the neighborhood can be a little rough. One problem you'll have is food in the area as much of it is just fast food.

I really would suggest the Renaissance if you want to do some spotting. You could eat at the Spondivits close by which is good.

There is a Holiday Inn (or used to be) on Virginia Avenue, as well as an Econolodge and a couple of others. This is walking distance to the Renaissance.
