I'm sure there are others too. I just use Nero, since it came with my DVD burner.

Nero is a kick-butt program. I highly reccomend using it.

Sonic RecordNow doesn't seem too bad, but I haven't used it much to know for sure.

This came with my Dell, and I used it until I got Nero. They are both just fine, but I prefer Nero. For what you are using it for, either is fine.

I've never had a Dell desktop, so can't speak for those. My laptop however is pretty good. It has had issues, but Dell is very quick on fixing stuff.

  • Monitor went out. Took the inhouse rep two weeks to attempt a fix with different parts. Finally sent it to Dell, had it back repaired two days later.
  • Space Bar fell off (I think this was my dog's fault though...lol)
  • Rubber feet keep falling off. Make sure to superglue them.
  • Computer wouldn't boot. Motherboard was fried (heat)
  • AC adapter failed

Now this sounds like a bad deal, but in all cases they were very fast (shipped from MN Monday at 5 PM, had it back Wednesday at 8AM). Just make sure to go with the extended warranty and accident protection. For a desktop I wouldn't worry about accident protection, as the chance of accidentally spill something is minimal, and even then a keyboard or mouse is cheaper to replace than the service plan.
