Well I have to put together a list of techno music for a dance, and wanted to see what songs you guys can contribute. I know Techno is popular in Europe, but not as much in America. So what good dance/techno music do you know?
I think Special D "Come with Me" has a pretty good beat.

I don't mind Trance/Electronic music that much. But nowhere near the level that Europeans love it. To me its more driving music, or someting to listen to while studying. In North America, usually at any club/school dance setting, the trance songs tends to clear out at least 1/3 of the floor, until the hip-hop comes back on.
For what I do know, you can't go wrong with some ATB and Teisto.

Forgot to mention BT.
And in the defense of Europe's passion for Electronica, I love it, and I think it's sooo much better musically than that hip-hop sh!t. This is why I hate living in a college town where everyone (especially wi**ers) play that crap all the time.

techno is to the list above, what airbus is to boeing and that's not particularly good! so, when you ask for a list of techno tunes don't throw these cheesey above into the mix! techno is not trance, house, cheese or whatever you want to call it!

I can't stand this hip hop and rap cr*p that America is all into now, its sounds horrible. I'm a big fan of European music, whether it be pop, or dance whatever.

There are too many hot tracks to list, but here are a few:
Airbase - Escape
Ronski Speed - Incognition
Way Out West - Killa (DJ Orkidea mix)
Super 8 vs. DJ Tab - Helsinki Scorching
Hammer & Bennett - Language (Santiago Nino Dub mix)
Marcel Woods - Advanced (Trance Energy 2006 Anthem)
Marcel Woods - Cherry Blossom
Armin van Buuren feat Nadia Ali - Who's Watching
White Water feat Amy Cooper - Someday
Purple Haze - Adrenaline
The Gift - Love Angel
GTR - Mistral
Blank & Jones - Perfect Silence (E-Craigh 212 Vocal Mix)
Mode Hookers - Breathe (this one's a MUST)
Markus Schulz - Without You Near
Oliver Lieb - Subraumstimulation
New Order - Confusion (Blade Theme)
Ronald van Gelderen - Proceed
Kyau vs. Albert - Kiksu (hot new track)
Also, I would recommend downloading a few trance sets such as DJ Tiesto - Magik 6 Live in Amsterdam or any Armin van Buuren or Ferry Corsten set. The mixing and track selection has already been done, so it is two hours of nonstop pure adrenaline trance music!

"America is all into now?" Buddy, Hip-hop has been known for over 20 years and popular in the last 16 years.
I suppose opinions in Techno vs. Hip Hop is one of those differences between North America and Europe.

Quoting QANTAS077 (Reply 12): absolutely none of the above names appear on that list, if you want decent techno music then try Detroit!
That's Detroit techno. People like Aeroflot777 refer to trance, dance, etc (although mistakenly) as techno. That's why I gave you the list.
And before you criticize, I'd recommend you listen to some of those that I listed (like Infected Mushroom). None of them are Eurodance, hence, none of them are cheesy.

During the '90s punk, grunge, and rock per se were quite popular. Starting around '98 and '99 was when hip-hop became as popular as it is now, with all the white people trying to be something they're not.

Remember MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice? Yeah those guys became popular at the beginning of the 90s. I would even go as far to say that Hammer was the one that brought hip-hop to the national stage. Before that it was limited to urban areas with artists like Grand Master Flash, LL Cool J, Marky Mark, Sugar Hill Gang, Public Enemy, Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince, NWA, etc.

If you live in North America, listen to XM 81 or 82 or on Sirius listen to 33. Those are the trance channels. The one song that I really enjoy is called "Rocket" by Redwing. I hear that on XM sometimes and I downloaded it. Another good one is Darude vs Robert Miles "Children of the Sandstorm". The song "Sandstorm" is a good intro to trance.
