I just saw the new Mercedes S class walking home from work. God is it ugly! I thought MB was the last bastion of elegant design, I mean, even a Lexus looks better!

Ach du lieber - what is going on in Germany???  boggled

I don't like the new BMW 3 or 5 series either. And what's up with that mini-van thing that MB came up with? I've seen a few, it's even worse than the E Wagon. I mean, if you are going to spend the bucks for a Benz, please don't buy a minivan or a wagon!

Yes, the new S class is definitely ugly. And it will appear even more ugly if you look at the inside - there is a wannabe-luxury analog clock in an antique grandmother-pearl-brown. My Casio I was wearing when I was 12 looks better Big grin

And Mercedes bought Chrysler, not the other way around, if anything I would expect to see the Chrysler's start looking like a Mercedes.

It appears in the Lexus (I think) ads on TV in the US. There was also a German song called "Ach du lieber Augustin" we sang as kids in Hamburg an eon ago. It was as popular as "Frere Jacques"...

To be fair, though, the last S-class looked so great that it is hard to make a better looking car. The new S-class is a great car, but I preferred the older one in terms of design. At least, it still looks better than the S-class of the early nineties...

The exterior of the old one was far better IMO. Teamed up with some nice AMG alloys and it looked great  biggrin

Just a shame underneath it felt like it was put together by chimps....and mal-coordinated chimps at that

Whilst I like the exhaust I'm not a fan of the new AMG alloys. They look like the 18" ones off the old model and the body kit looks as bad as the old one...

Looks much better IMO

Can't beat the CLS though, what a stunner that is, although I don't think that's based on the S-class, is it the E-Class, or neither?
I've been driven round a track in one of them too, what noise those AMG V8s make.
