Well the oiks at the E(&W)Cb have certainly pulled a fasty one by announcing the test venues for the next 3 years with no major surprises except that Lancashire's reward for hosting an incredibly successful 2005 Ashes Test Match is for them to lose a Test in 2009 in favour of Glamorgan's Sophia Gardens whose ground has got development plans undergoing planning permission. It is reputed to be "underwritten" by various NGOs so I guess we'll find ticket prices for that Test Match to be considerably more expensive as the planned capacity for the ground is just 15,500 whereas Lancs had 20,000+ crowds.

It would be that little bit more bearable if the Riverside had been granted an Ashes Test given that they've already hosted a couple of Tests but for Cardiff to be given a plum when they should have been the given the test of seeing how enthusiastic Wales is about cricket by scheduling either Zimbabwe or Bangladesh reeks of favourtism by the former Glamorgan Chairman David Morgan who is purely coincidentally the current chairman of the ECB.
