Hope someone here can answer this for me. If I buy a second DVD drive for my laptop and hit "yes" to play Region 2, will I be able to keep the other drive Region 1? Or does anyone know a software hack to enable it to play all regions? I personally think the whole region thing is silly.

The region codes are held in the drives firmware, so changing the region code on one shouldnt affect the other drive.

Take a look at VLC ( http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ ) as well, it doesnt check region codes on 99.9% of drives.

Get SlySoft AnyDVD, it allows you to bypass DVD region coding without needing 2 DVD drives and without hacking the firmware.

If you have a BitTorrent client, like utorrent, click on this link. It will allow you to play any region and also removes any copyright protection on DVDs so you can copy them.

If you need a Torrent client, try UTorrent.
