Have You Ever Blown Up A Microwave?

Last night my dear old mum brought me round some lasagne she had made for me, something she often does as she knows I'm useless at looking after myself in a domestic sense.

I left it in the fridge, planning on having it for my dinner tonight.

So about half an hour ago I stuck it in the microwave, and went off to make a quick phonecall, but as I'm walking through the door to my 'study' I hear an almighty bang.

I make my way towards the kitchen to be greeted by carnage, with a smoke filled room and the microwave door embedded in the plasterboard wall on the other side of the kitchen.

Then it occured to me, that in my haste to get my dinner ready and get to the pub I had forgotten to take the lasagne out of the metal tray it was in ......

Have you ever been so foolish?

I came close! In primary school we all got these millenium mugs and they had gold on the lip of the mug. I wanted some ready brek (Porridge) or something and put milk in the millenium mug to heat up, luckily I stay around while stuff is in the microwave and this time was no exception, after about 5 seconds sparks were flying everywhere. I was like 10 so you can imagine I was a bit shook up!

I had an interesting time, it started with some Peeps, and it ended with my microwave started arching everywhere and then the whole hall smelled like burning the rest of the day. Pretty fun, and I still have the burn marks on the microwave to show for it.

Many years ago, when I was at a friend's house, we put an uncooked egg in his microwave, and set the timer for about 30 minutes.

After awhile, it blew the door open and threw scrambled egg guts everywhere.

I didn't blow one up, but I trashed one.

I defrosted some steaks and forgot about them for three days. I cleaned and cleaned that microwave, but couldn't get rid of the "dead" odor. Everything I cooked smelled and tasted like rotting flesh, so I threw it out.

Have You Ever Blown Up A Microwave?

Maybe another question would be, "Have you blown up any animals in a microwave?  duck

Think of the scene from the Gremlins movie.

Yep..

I used to buy "Youngs Fish Pies" they came in a nice microwavable plastic dish, pop it in the microwave for 9 mins and bobs your uncle..

However, when they changed it to the foil tray, i didnt notice and bang went the microwave, needless to say it gave me a good excuse for a new kitchen! Big grin

I'm assuming by Peeps you mean those little marshmallow birds....and I KNOW I'm going to regret asking this.....what were you doing with Peeps and a microwave?

Are you saying you've never had the pleasure of watching what happens to a Peep in the microwave?  Wow!

Not quite blew up a microwave but I did put a burger wrapped in a paper with foil inside wrapper in once. I did not relize the paper had metal on the inside (to keep the food warm). I came back a minute later to find the bag/burger on fire. The microwave smelt of burning for about a week.

Me and several friends (5 total) shot one to bits with a small arsenal of guns. I had my glock model 21, emptied two full 13 round mags into it, another buddy emptied 15 rounds of buckshot, a few magazines of 9mm from another friends and a full 30 round mag of .223 out of a ruger mini-14. It was a brilliantly fun minute or so. Not much left of the nuker.

Much as it pains me to admit it, I have not. Do tell...I rather like my microwave at the moment, and don't really want to buy a new one.

a microwave on high for many minutes filled with aerosol cans makes for great outdoor summer fun.

If its anything like a marshmellow, it gets big, puffy and soft. I sometimes microwave a marshmellow to put between two mini chocolate bars. Now that's good eattin!

My sister did one time. It was about 4 years ago and I had taken the dog for a walk so he could play in the snow. When I came home our white microwave and cabinets were covering in black. I guess she wanted to make hot chocolate and used my dad's new metal coffee mug for the car and it sparked. Watching her clean it up was hilarious but I ended up finishing up since I knew I'd be blamed for it. And after all this the microwave sustained no damage and is still in perfect working condition.

I accidentally put a burrito in for 30 minutes instead of 3 minutes(darn that extra "0"), and I would have caught that mistake, cept my Gramma came in to bitch at me about my messy room (get over it woman), and made me go clean it and she blocked my door, and I thought about mentioning tha tI had a burrito in the microwave, but decided not to, cuz it would turn off after 3 minutes right? Normally I can't hear the bell ding cuz of the concrete walls in our basement (I got the basement room, I knew I should have moved into the dorm, but I usually wind up with a basement room there too), and after about 15 minutes, I caught a whiff of burned food, and stupidly ignored it. Then about 25 minutes later, I went into the room in the basement where my kitchen is, and I couldn't even see a foot in front of me! That was a major clean-up job....

Yes, as JAGflyer said above, it expands to sometimes many times its original size, and we left it in the microwave too long and it just started burning. We ended up with what looked like brown burning good stuck to the bottom of a paper plate.

Sounds interesting...although I must admit, I prefer to do my marshmallows over the BBQ. They get all black on the outside and gooey on the inside!!

Of course, now you know I'm going to have to try this. Just what a mature woman in her 40s should do on a Monday night....blow up little marshmallow birds!!!
