http://wkyc.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=51707

LAKEWOOD -- Police say a man has reportedly fired shots at police officers for unknown reasons in Lakewood Wednesday afternoon.
It's happening on Granger Avenue near Clifton, on the west side of Lakewood.

Neighbors say that around Noon, an 18-year-old man named "Brad" began hanging out of an upstairs window of the home he is living in and firing a gun.

Since Channel 3 arrived on the scene, he has fired four shots at police and SWAT team members who have surrounded the house.

Police have not fired back yet.

There's no word if there are any injuries.

We'll have more on this developing story as details become available.

A blanket statement like that, is like me saying all the people I know who have ever traveled to Italy have been victims of pick pockets.

Just before some American decides to take a pop at me about that comment, I am not necessarily against your gun laws. As long as your responsible with owning a gun, I don't have a problem with it.

Making it hard or illegal to own a gun isn't necessarily going to stop violent crime or murders, as generally the people who commit these crimes won't find it to hard to get hold of a weapon illegally.

Highly likely, you should be very wary of this in Italy, especially on public transport.

Anyway, what I mean by that statement is that generally every time I have watched US news on TV there is always some talk of shootings that have happened recently.

I suppose it depends on where you go, hardly surprising I have heard a lot of these stories on TV while visting New York, probably not the worlds safest city.

In contrast though, I seem to hear a lot less of these kind of stories on the UK news, although its on the increase.

I suspect it would be a statistical anomoly if there wasn't a gun used to commit a crime at least once per day somewhere in the United States.

After all, there are almost three hundred million oportunities for it to happen

Is it a daily occurance for the average American?

Not by a long shot. Most in fact will live their whole lives without encountering gun violence. Some unfortunates will encounter it much more often though...

Theres a difference between, shootings: ie:gunfire. And murder, which, if you travel to say JFK, ORD, MIA, LAX is inevitible, but murder isnt that common here, open your eyes...

Well when you take to shooting at a cop that is one option of an ending!

Yes, but still tragic when a person dies, cop or not. This kid obviously had a major problem.

Nope. Close, though.

I am not against in anyway American gun laws - whether they are legal or illegal, anyone who wants a gun will be able to get one in one way or another.

I really don't have much sympathy for him. If you start taking potshots at law enforcement, expect to get shot.
