I have an averatec 3150 laptop with a S3 Pro Savage8 card with 32 mb's shared video. My question is that i installed gta3 today and it runs pretty decent just the textures dont look great and some take awhile to load. I know the card isnt the greatest, but is it cuz its shared mem? The game is designed to run on much lower end pc's IE: P3... so Any idea what the problem is?

Oh,

Other specs

1.4amd xp1600

224mb's ram

30gig hdd

Yeah.... Shared memory: uummm hummm

On the bright side: for about $500, you should be able to get something from this century.

Yeah laptops aren't ideal for gaming due to the shared memory.

Mine is...A Dell XPS with 2Ghz Centrino, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, 17" widescreen and a 256MB nVidia 6800GT video card.

Seriously though, you need something better if you want to play games on a laptop. Nothing fancy as mine but at least get rid of the shared memory.

Built in the midlle of last year. A few of us in our company have them for application development and contact center scripting though I did load Tiger Woods 2006 on it when I was out in SFO. It worked great and oh that big beautiful screen.

I'm a simmer, but I also use my computer for work.

Would you recommend it?

Prince range (CDN, please)?

Laptop memory can be picked up reasonably cheap. Buy like 1GB of SODIMM and you might be good to go.
