I have seen strange things on Ebay like Doughnuts but nothing this strange.

Some Sydney person was trying to sell New Zealand.

I have known about the frendly rivalry between Aus/NZ but never thought it would get personal Big grin

thats Aussies for ya! the country was founded as a Convict Settlement!

joke: A New Zealander arriving into SYD (Australia) walks up to the Immigration Officer and hands over his passport. The Immigration officer then asks "how long do you plan on being in Australia for?" to which the reply was " 2 weeks". The officer then asks: "do you have any criminal convictions?" the kiwi then responds: "no... but I didn't realise that you still needed one of those to get into Australia!" Big grin  stirthepot

btw Air New Zealand was selling an ex Freedom Air 737 on trademe.co.nz... turns out it was a 733 model plane but did include return airfares for 2 somewhere... was a cool marketing ploy

Roubert, wanna tease us?

Great news, Aussies are bidding for a couple of million sheep. So somehow the Aussies like Kiwiland, I guess.

Omg, I love the Aussies and their sence of humour.

Ah, you Aussies are jelouse of NZ. With real Mountains (not oversized hills you call the Snowy Mts. with very little snow), no 'roos, better beer and volcanos harnessed to provide power, no wonder some Aussie would want to buy NZ.  duck

That's confirmed it for me, New Zealand has the crappiest education system in the world.

Let me guess - Rome was founded by Romanians? New Zealand was settled by the Dutch? The taxi cab was invented by the Princess of Thurn and Taxis?

Your connection with historical realities not only has been severed, but I very much doubt it was connected to begin with.

Oldest-joke-in-the-world.

I would pay money to see you say the same thing to Australian immigration these days. You'd be on an Indonesian fishing vessel surrounded by Iranians on your way to Nauru in a heartbeat.

After sporadic visits by fishermen from the north and by European explorers and merchants starting in the seventeenth century, the eastern half of the continent was claimed by the British in 1770 and officially settled as the penal colony of New South Wales on 26 January 1788. source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia

As for your other comments... no idea what you are talking about when it comes to Rome...? As I understand it the legend goes that Rome was founded by ex Trojans and was named Rome after Romulus.
New Zealand was discovered by the Dutch explorer Abel Tasman (hence the Tasman Sea). Wouldn't have a clue about taxi's sorry...

as for everything else I think you need to lighten up a bit... as you can see this thread is a bit of a joke and after all it was someone in Australia who "put New Zealand up for sale".....

Zkpilot -

You're obviously not one for details. You said "the country" was founded as a penal colony. As far as I recall, the country was founded as a result of a peaceful vote on the 1st of January 1901. This would seem to be backed up by what you've pulled from wikipedia, which identifies only "the colony of New South Wales" as having being founded as such.

It looks like you might have to go to new extremes to try and make us ashamed of ourselves now.

And this gives you a right to insult us all? Interesting concept.

I maintain a broad attitude toward New Zealand. I understand that not all of them are paranoid and have an inferiority complex.
