Dear All,

We had some powerful storms pass through here today. Mixed in with strong winds and heavy rain, we had some pretty strong thunderstorms pass through. Two tornadoes touched town in Champaign, and one in Monticello, and combined with the high winds, caused some significant damage.

Anybody else experience any bad weather from this large front moving east over the area?

Tbar, yes. It hit Fort Wayne at about 5:30pm CST. We got lucky. Only mjaor winds and rain. Counties above and below us had confirmed tornadoes. No damage, though. I had to take down the @#$@# Halloween decorations!!  Angry

In Sydney today we are having really humid / warm weather. Thunderstorm weather!!

Don't you just love that hot, muggy afternoon when clouds start rolling in and you can feel the steam in the air? You can smell the ozone and hot pavement. Then *snap* *snap* *snap* big fat drops start splattering the ground. Booom!! The first claps of thunder!

I love thunderstorms. However I am glad we don't have Twisters here.

Cheers,

mb

Yea, our friends in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Ontario, Canada are getting dumped on by a strong October Blizzard. Just ask DragoGoalie about it, he'll tell you how much fun he's having.  Laugh out loud

In Edmonton, we got dumped on by about 8-10 cm of snow - now it's all melting and getting messy!! I hate that! I sure miss summer, which has been unusually humid (humidity is usually pretty low) and persistently hot.

I love thunderstorms. However I am glad we don't have Twisters here.

Mx5 boy, actually, I hear that Australia gets twisters. I've checked out a storm chaser site made by Sydneysiders that has a report of a couple of tornadoes (very weak ones though) in the Sydney area last November. This wasn't wild speculation - the storm in the pics was unmistakably a supercell - a kind of rotating thunderstorm that can spin up tornadoes.

Grand Forks, North Dakota we received 10.5" of snow yesterday with visibility of near zero for the entire day. The average for October is 8". Even the University was closed at 1:00 pm, and so was most of the city.

Oh yeah, i do love storms Big grin Unfortunetely the ones here are midgets. I do like watching them slowly appear over the Welsh hills, and then down into the Severn valley before hitting us. It has been unusually humid here too, and we have had alot of Thunderstorms (and Tornado's!!)..

Tornadoes can happen anywhere!! Last year a tornado ripped the roof off a house in a town just a few miles away from me(In the English countryside!)! I have noticed that we get more and more every year, last year we must have had 4 or 5 damaging ones reported. It doesn't compare to Tornado Alley but its a start!!

Well, I just drove by an Elementary school in Davisburg. Part of the roof was demolished, as looked part of the buliding.. Just thankful it was at night when NO ONE was there..
