No, it won't Superfly, but it will take one of the masterminds out of play, if it's true, which I doubt.

The truth is no one knows what the hell is going inside Afghanstan.

I have a good feeling that Osama is still alive and doing extremely well, so is everyone else (including our esteemed leader, Omar).

Am I the only one who thinks that if the Taliban shot Bin Laden they'd have told the US to stop the bombing?

ADG... Taliban knows they're in trouble, but they are just on a mission to get the entire muslim world against the U.S. (and they are suceeding somewhat too), but if he has been killed, his gaurds have destroyed his body, and we will never find him. making him an immortal martyr for the radical muslim cause.

I don't think paranoia should rule supreme .. the Taliban would simply bring out the body and say the US did it which would most likely mobilise the other countries far more than any other action right now.

On the other hand, I dont' think we've seen him lately ... perhaps we will soon. Ever seen "Weekend at Bernies"?

You would have though that they would have shown a body by now if that was the case.

ADG, for once, you actually make some sense in what you say. It's very possible that the Taliban would have hauled out the body of this guy, and said "we give". But also remember, the Taliban are incredibly power-hungry, and in their own warped way, they may just want to continue this war to try and lure the Americans into their country to try to make them fight a massed campaign the way the Soviets did in the 1980's.

Fortunately, the US has learned that how the USSR fought there doesn't work. They've learned that lesson.

And as for the "Weekend At Bernies" reference, I had to chuckle, with the thought of a few Al-Quaeda members walking around, on each side of Osama in the same fashion.  Big grin

Weekend at Bernie's..... Laugh out loud it's been a while since I have seen that one.

Actually looking back at my earlier body comment.....

Do you remember the scene from the movie, "Farris Bullers day off" where they are trying to skip school so they call the principle to get Farris's girlfriend out of class by claiming her grandmother died? To qoute the principle, (I can't remember his name) "We will of course have to see the body."

ADG, I doubt he was shot, but if so, I would doubt further that the Taliban orchestrated his death, but a more likely scenerio would be that we was assassinated by a dissenter within the Taliban. That may explain that, if it happened, why they didn't say anything. Who knows.

For once? *looks offended* ...  Laugh out loud

They may have moved into *revenge* mode, thinking that if it continues on they may unite the Islamic countries against the US and there is a risk of this given the public feeling in countries like Indonesia. This is why it needs to be a quick camplaign, because the longer it takes, the more chance of the governments in Pakistan, Indonesia etc risk falling into the hands of the sympathisers.

I'm glad you like it, it's makes me chuckle as well. We have a politician here "Mal Colston" who was arrested for various illegal dealings and who was never taken to court because he only had 6 months of life left due to cancer. 5 years later he is still alive and kicking and in parliament. I suspect he died years ago and his 2 sons are just "Bernieing" him around.

JetService: I'm sure in time we will find out.

If bin Laden MAY have already been shot dead, then why are our forces still over there? I hate to say this, but it seems that it is more proof that the US isn't all that interested in any real retailiation to the event of 9-11...

No Alpha_1, this couldn't be psycho-babble!

Hello, McFly-anyone home? Lephron, if he is dead and we're still over there, to me it's more proof we want to get rid of the problem, because the problem IS larger than just Bin Laden. Getting rid of Bin Laden doesn't solve the problem, and the president has said we're out to hunt teorrorism down, not just Bin Laden.

I keep saying, this is but the first battle in a long, long war, that will see other nations involved-I think Iraq's days under Saddam are numbered. If Osama Bin Laden is dead, then that's great, but the problem will not just dry up with his death.
