I'm thinking about purchasing a new car. I like the new Audi A4 3.0; Volvo S60 and the Saab 9-5. Any ideas?? Which one is better, but I guess that depends on many variable, also, is it true Saab's are expensive to fix here in the US??

Audi A4 totally.I love the Saab, but it depends on your needs. Do you have kids? Do you have just one kid?
If you said yes to the above, Audi A4 by far...
But if you have kids, say 3 or more, go with the Saap 9-5

Of the above cars you stated,
I have been in A-4, Saab 9-5 both for more then 1 week at a time. So I am not judging by looks. Actualy my fathers friend Races the A-4 in the Speedvision World Challenge. He is a very good racer, and this is his second year racing for team Audi, and won the World Challenge. He is so good, they asked him to move up and rance for Audi in the ALMS CHampionship League, where they race fast cars.
Anywho I stated this because the Audi is not only a touring car, but as good as a race car. Here are his exact words..."This Champion team did a fantastic job of working late on these cars. We really wanted to show that these Audis are a great performance car, as well as a great luxury four-door sedan. I just want to thank everybody. There are so many people who made this all possible.”
He raced before the Audi a Acura Integra Type R. I personally like the Audi Better.
A few weeks ago (Oct 11) Audi took out a WHOLE page ad in the New York Times for Mike because he won the World Championship. On Page A11.
Yes, I realy do know this guy, he is my dads client, and I watch him race live, and on Speedvision. When we go and see him race, he gives us passes to sit anywhere we want to.

I have'nt seen and observed the new A4 yet........but its a very good car for what it is ...... i like the steptronic transmission on it. I have never driven a SAAB but they are quite fast and as the slogan goes "most people who test drive a SAAB usually buy one" ......im sure its a good drivers car. The S60 is however a very interesting car.......now in talking specifically about the S60 T5 with the 240-odd horse power engine. I drove this car few months ago with the steptronic transmission and i was surprised how quick and agile this car was.... the handling too was very good. Its bigger then the A4 and the interior was good and the car has quite alot of options if desired.
I must however advise that you should definately go to your Volvo dealership and test drive the S60 T5 .....the other engines are not poweful so make sure they put you in a T5.

I like the Saab but would agee with the suggestion that you look at the Audi A6 as a comparison to the Saab 9-5. It seems to me that they are in the same class. The A4 is smaller. Maybe the Saab 9-3 and the Audi A4 should be compared?

I love Audis. I test drove the new 2002 1.8T Quattro a few times. The car is amazing. It's the most solid car I have ever experienced. It's gorgeous too. For some reason, it looks very different then the photos released by audi. In person, it looks much better, very beautiful car. I suggest you go to your audi dealer and take a look at the new A4. Take it for a drive. You'll love it, trust me.

I haven't driven the other cars, but I got a test drive of the S60 when we rented it in FL and LOVED IT. My family has a V70. I've been in love with Volvos ever since. WONDERFUL cars.

Well, the 9-5 I think is due for a revision very very soon, so if you're completely going for quality and want the Saab, I'd suggest buying a new-generation example when they come out. The A4 and S60 are all very new cars though, so they'd probably compete very well with the new 9-5. However, if you want to go for a bargain, hold off on buying a car until the new generation 9-5 comes out, let depreciation do its work, and get an older 9-5 for a song in a few months .

I've had some experience with the S60, it's quite a refined car, with a good deal of kick. If there's a mild criticism, it's that the back isn't as big as the S70, otherwise it's a quantum leap overall.
What are your priorities in a car? If you want space, go for the 9-5, and forget about the A4. If you want pace, the Saab is probably best, but the margin between the three is so small, it's relatively insignificant. Overall...
I'd say go with the S60, I've had runs in the 2.4 and 2.4T. The 2.4T is probably the best pick of the range, the T5 is fast, but the 2.4T is better value, and probably a more useable engine. The 5 cylinder engine has a great growl, the car is very solid, has good face level air vents in the back, is very refined on the freeway, has a deep boot, and some of the world's best front seats (Volvo and Saab probably make the best front seats in the world), to name a few good points. Basically with a Volvo you get a very liveable car, a car that is very easy to live with day to day - you get to notice all the little tools and features that make life easier over time.
Really, you have to drive the cars yourself. I think if you look at some of the responses here, they don't speak totally of rationality - If you say get this car, tell us why? I'll declare my bias, I'm a happy Volvo driver

Get a Saab or a Volvo, the A4 is a good car, but it's so damm craped inside, at least if you are 180cm or taller!
If you think the 9-5 is to big and boring, go with the 9-3 instead, it's faster, bigger and better built then the Audi!!!!
25 Western727: Are you kidding me? The Audi. This is not a hard decision.
26 Greg: I'm a beamer queen..but there is only one alternative: Audi They are arguably the the hottest car company around lately. And with good reason.
