I would say that Finland didn't only win because of the points they got from their neighbours but rather because they contributed something special and just different than most other countries.

In general the contest it self might still be ok but the voting system is just supid. Just giving points to a nation because it is your neighbour and because it could also give points to you is silly and nonsense for a "contest".

Yeah but how would you do it then? It is true that all the scandinavian (& nordic) countries seem to stick together, but what about all the countries that have been a part of the former soviet union? Almost every one of them gave 12 points to Russia.

Well I liked the song too. Ireland always seems to have good songs in the Eurovision song contest, and let me be the first to admit that the danish contribution to the eurovision song contest was rubbish.
