Disney's Pirates Of The Caribbean Movie

I saw the movie trailer to Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest on tv tonight. I'm looking forward to seeing it when it comes out. (Being a Disney fan, its pretty obvious!) But one problem: no release date was said on the trailer. I read somewhere last year that the ACTUAL release date was slated for July 7, 2006.

Did that change? Does anyone know the actual release date? And if anyone has seen some sneak peaks, please don't ruin it for us!

Thanks!

That sucks! But what I don't get is why show the trailer a whole month and half early for? Wtf?!

The trailer has been going around for some time actually. There's lots of big movies that come out during the summer, so I imagine Disney's strategy is to start promoting the movie early and often so that people don't overlook it.

Tonight was "Trailer Central" on TV across the U.S. - over the course of two hours I saw trailers for:

"X-Men"
"Superman Returns"
"Pirates of the Caribbean II"
That Adam Sandler remote control movie (name escapes me)

They're gearing up for the summer movie season big-time, as Hollywood is in a bit of a slump lately.

I went to see the Da Vinci Code on Friday and there was an advert for a kids movie which is set to be released in August and another in October! I agree with you tho... I don't see the point in screening adverts for movies really early. It totlally blows!

Movie studios all compete heavily for your entertainment dollar especially in the summer. Summer Blockbuster season and all that. Starting promotion for your potential blockbuster films makes sense in the fact is generates anticipation, allows time for a larger portion of the masses to see it and hopefully generate that anticipation and if people only go see a couple movies a year (or hell can't afford to see many movies) they might bypass one movie and wait for one coming out this July or August (or save up to go  Wink ).

If you think it is bad advertising now for Pirates of Caribbean II, which opens in UK on 7 July, I saw a preview on Saturday evening at the cinema for the new James Bond film (Casino Royale) that opens in November!

When I went to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire back in November of last year, two of the previews were for Over the Hedge (just opened) and Happy Feet, which opens in November of *this* year. That means I saw a teaser for a film a full *year* ahead of its release. Yikes.

I watched Ice Age 2 in the theater a couple of weeks ago, and there was a preview for a movie being released in July 2007. I also remember seeing previews for Cars way way back, and that's coming out shortly.

So did I. Saw the preview for it when I saw The Incrediables. Heard that Pixar tanked the 'Cars' idea but Im surprised that they brought it back. I also look forward to seeing that too!

Ughh...I wish they kept Cars shelved. From everything I've seen, this is the one Pixar movie that I will *not* go see in the theater. Unfortunately, millions of people will, if only because they will be expecting another high-quality film from Pixar, but I think they will be disappointed. I love Pixar more than most people, but I hope this movie falls short of the achievements of the rest of the Pixar stable, if only so Pixar learns what not to do with future films.

That said, I am holding out hope for Ratatouille next year.

At least its not a Disney flick. I dont think it is by the way.... or is it?! After all, Disney bought Pixar anyway.

Back on the topic: What in the hell is on Jack Sparrow's face?! He isnt an indian! What the hell?!

The movie will be distributed by Disney, who will own the rights to the film and characters and all related mercantile activities, from Lightning McQueen underwear to the inevitable ride at Disneyland (my money's on them re-themeing the Speedway to match Cars--I mean, it's halfway there already, as it's now called "Tomorrowland Indy Speedway"). So, I think it's safe to say that it is, for most intents and purposes, a Disney film.

Yeah, I was wondering about that, too. The only thing I can come up with is that the tribe he's captured by paints it on him before they start to roast him alive. Then, Jack Sparrow being Jack Sparrow, finds away out of his predicament--likely by claiming he's a tribal god or something...or by getting a lucky break. Only after he escapes the island does he have enough time to freshen his appearance and wipe off all that tribal gook.

For my own note, I noticed that Hans Zimmer is the composer. Since I don't see a "Non-Original Music By" credit in the teaser or on IMDb.com, I take it that means we shan't be revisiting any of Klaus Badelt's themes from Curse of the Black Pearl, which is a shame, really--I rather liked it.

They should have kept the Black Curse theme song. Once Dead Man's Chest comes out on DVD, I'm buying!
