So on my way back from Thailand in a few weeks I will hav 8 hours to spare intransit in Singapore. I have thought about going into the city to do some shopping and have some dinner but I arrive at about 4pm on a Sunday and leave at midnight.

I'd like to hear your suggestions.

Ain't that the truth. SIN is not the place for sin (which is pretty ironic as far as I'm concerned).

Check the SIN Tourist Authority web site. They have tours for people in transit. If any thing is running at your exact time I dont know.

When you land - go straight to the tourist information desk. Like Gemuser said they have loads of free options.

You can get a free pass for 10 rides on the mass rail transit (subway) system, or you can get a free return coach ride into Singapore, you can have a free tour of Singapore as well.

With that you get a pass you can use for either a free pizza and drink at the airport, a shower or a free meal somewhere else in the airport.

When you get downtown, you have to do the Duck Tour - a ride on an ex-Vietnam amphibious vehicle which takes you around town then into the harbour, very good fun, http://www.ducktours.com.sg .

Also for shopping you'll want Orchard Road - lots of duty free shops and you can get a taxi there from anywhere in town, or a ride on the subway.

Hope this helps!

Noel

I think a better question would be "How many to do in SIN for 8 hours?"

Try buying some chewing gum. That should keep you busy for hours.

Eight hours are more than enough to go to the city for shopping and dinner. The MRT trains take you in approximately 25 minutes from the airport to downtown.
