They've locked down the entire Capitol complex

nobody's got any real word yet, just police reports.

Waiting for info. I hope they put a stop to this right now.

Nah. They're used to that.

BTW, CNN says they're re-opening the Capitol building, though maybe not the Rayburn office building.

So far, it's possible that this may have turned out to be a false alarm, Trekster; however, the latest from Fox News Channel is that someone with a gun has been found, presumably connected with this incident.

Fox also reports that two women who emerged from one of the local government buildings saw a man with a gun in or near one of the gyms.

The news is very much in flux right now.

Shots Fired At US Capitol

Anyone else get a mental image of a redneck with a shotgun firing randomly in the general direction of Washington DC and then shaking his fist angrily?

Honestly, no, because the incident supposedly occurred in a parking garage.

There are nuts all over the place, I would agree. It's sad that society is so chaotic that we have people who might actually do such crazy things.

By the way, Fox now reports that the suspected gunman (if any) seen by the two women was a white guy hiding near the gym area of the Rayburn building.

There was another gun-type incident recently in the Capitol building, from what I understand.

The frustration level with government is rising, with such things as the immigration debate and so forth. But, needless to say, political and criminal violence are never justified.

I hope the heck that we don't return to the same level of craziness as the late 1960's and early-to-mid-1970's. Even as late as the 1980's, we had the attempted assassination of President Reagan.

Anyway, what a world.

I heard there's a video that supposedly shows the shots being fired. However, there are no remains of the actual bullet where it struck a wall. Therefore, the whole thing was a hoax concocted by the government - this according to Internet 'experts'.

Are people so jumpy that they are seeing things now? I mean how did they come up with that?
