I've never been to the city before, and I was looking for some advice.

What is the best way to get from DCA to the Russian Embassy to apply for visa?

Their address is: 2641 Tunlaw Road, N.W. Washington, D.C. 20007

I'd rather take public transportation if possible. Any advice on bus / subway routes, or should I just rent a car?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

The Russian Embassy officially uses another address than the one you've shown. However, it is the same location, just the opposite side of the building.

The subway system (Metro) does not have any stops near this embassy.

It is a 15-minute cab ride from DCA.

Taking the Metro from DCA is the easiest rail connection at any airport in the United States...Perhaps you should go to your hotel before the Embassy?

It's just gonna be a quick trip up there, day at the most if I can find someone to go along w/ me.

Thanks!

There is a website where you can calculate the cab fare in the DC area:

It is possible to take the Metro (yellow line) from DCA to the National Archives station and then transfer onto a bus (also owned by Metro). It takes 58 minutes to do this and costs much less than a taxi.

Go to the website below and enter "DCA" as the from address, and "2650 WISCONSIN AVE NW" as the to address. Enter your travel date and times, and you'll get the correct schedule.

The Metro station at DCA is within the terminal itself. Very easy to use.

Unless you are going somewhere outside DC, I wouldn't rent a car. Parking is a pain in the *ss in DC, and it isn't cheap. DC cabs are pretty good.

The beer offer goes for you too!

I said thanks a couple of times, but your advice (and that website) has been great!

Thanks!

Yeah, unfortunatly, that's one of the few places that's really not near a metro station. The embassy itself is for all intents and purposes on Wisconsin Ave. The cheapest way to get there would be to take the metro blue line to Rosslyn, then pay $1 to get on the "Georgetown Metro Connection" bus (it's a small blue bus). Take the Wisconsin ave line. The last stop on this line is about a 5-10 minute walk from the embassy. The whole trip would take about 35 minutes if its not rush hour.

After saying all that, however, I'd spend the money for a cab.

Have fun in DC!
