After looking at this thread about the Westboro Baptist Church protesting at a Memorial Day ceremony, I did a search on google about this group and was horrified with what came up.

Anti-Gay Protesters Try To Ruin Memorial Day Obser (by Mrmeangenes May 30 2006 in Non Aviation)

My question is, how is this kind of bs allowed to happen? This cult is blaming everything bad that happens in the world (AIDS, Wars, etc.) on Gays, Jews and Catholics. Obviously this is completely unacceptable in itself, but then there is the issue of how they go about showcasing their beliefs. They hold protests infront of the Holocaust Memorial, and war funerals. Another thing that completly disgusts me is that I have seen pictures of little children holding signs that say "God Hates Fags".

To show just how nutty this group is, here is an interview with one of their members on FOX. The one time in my life where I have respected FOX News  Yeah sure ...

Unfortunately the speech we hate the most is the speech we must protect. That said, I'll gladly turn my back and look the other way if you just happen to slug ones of these schmucks in the mouth at a protest.

That's the beauty of America. Just because it's stupid and distasteful doesn't make it illegal.

That's another thing... they are all lawyers and get a lot of their funding by sueing the pants off people who do things like that. They really are a bunch of douches.

I know. Hopefully the cops getting stuck with keeping a watchful eye over these jokers and the counter-protesters will turn their back as well for a split second.

I might even go so far to say they are douchebags used by Paris Hilton. Not sure how much more scummy they can be than those.

I believe a law was just signed which bars protestors from military funerals.

It MIGHT be bad law (chilling effect) but it might prevent the Westboro crowd from getting what they probably deserve.

They've already gotten "nudged" a bit by a group of bikers.  Wow!

I believe it bans them from protesting at ANY funerals (this would make it include AIDS funerals or others). The only problem, is that I think they are allowed to protest from 300ft. away. They can still do a lot of damage at 300ft...
