So my boss earlier this week (when he handed me my bonus for the week) basically said he was proud of me. Yesterday he called me, told me my schedule was getting knocked down to 2 days a week, told me all the reasoning behind it (excuses IMO), and told me he'd call me at 11am today. It's after noon and I haven't heard from him.

Maybe they found someone to sweep the floors at your work who is more efficient?

wouldn't want someone telling me that when I am fired!.. but anyway
I'm preparing for a a rough ride at my work as well.. Problems in the project, had to raise my voice in two high-level meetings this week, which is an open invitation to trouble, and as problems come in three, number two was yesterday when a new staff of mine had the bright idea of putting new code that took a whole web portal down disabling one of our organizations completely, and number three someone had another bright idea that I ok'ed but that actually resulted in a whole set of systems to stop working overnight, and for that one I got reprimanded.
Though week!!!! I think I just destroyed my "karma" at this job by about 50% in three days.

Thanks for the replies, here's the current situation:
About an hour ago I called him, it rung all the way through to voicemail so I left him a message just basically asking if I was still on the schedule for tomorrow. He has yet to call back.

Well, go ahead and give him a piece of your mind...unless you're gonna need him as a reference. If so, just save it for later. Sorry 'bout the job, though. What do you have going on in November? As far as being hired for two months, don't tell anyone you're leaving.
If worse comes to worse, tele-marketing is also an easy buck. I'm sure Ted would put in a good word for you.

Oh yeah, the government. If you've got a reasonable reputation and clean record, local federal offices hire metric tonnes of young people for seasonal work.

I go back to school in August, mowing season goes until November.
Quoting AsstChiefMark (Reply 11): Summer camps hire people for a few weeks at a time to be CIT's for the kids.
There's not any summer camps around here unfortunately.
I'm thinking about starting to go through my old stuff and throw it on Ebay for some extra cash.

Quoting A346Dude (Reply 14): Where do you live? I find this hard to believe.
Southeastern suburb of Denver. The mountains (where the camps are) are at least 2-3 hours away. While I realise I'd be living there and wouldn't make the commute daily, I don't want to have to go that far nonetheless.

Surely there are other, smaller camps that are much closer. I live in a city of 300,000 and there is at least one summer camp that I can think of within the city itself.
You know the gear is up and locked when it takes full throttle to taxi to the terminal.

Have you thought about starting your own business? Seems good timing to me. When I got sacked, I got tired of looking for a job, so I started my own business and I'm doing pretty well.
