With all this talk about big, bad Kim Jong Il, I thought I might bring a bit of humor into the conversation.

In case any of you haven't seen this website, it's always good for about two-hundred laughs.

It's the official website of the Korean News Agency of the DPRK! Basically, its the only news that that comes out of N. Korea. You can read about the famines that have decimated the rural populations, Kim's plans to decimate Asia...naah ... just kidding... Here you will find all about the American imperialists evil plan, what Dear Leader did today, who is paying homage to Dear Leader, and what peaceful socialist republics might come! Have fun!

I used to listen to Radio Pyongyang on shortwave, and it was hilarious. My favorate was the North Korean pop music with such hip titles such as, "We Win Because you Lead Us."

It was almost as fun as listening to Radio Havana, but Radio Havana had better music (Latin jazz).

...from the site....

Greetings to Moammer el Gaddafi
Pyongyang, June 11 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Sunday sent a message of greetings to Moammer el Gaddafi, leader of the Great September First Revolution of Libya, on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of the dismantlement of the U.S. military base in Libya. In the message Kim wished the Libyan leader and people greater success in their work to defend the national dignity and sovereignty and achieve the country's progress and prosperity, expressing the belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would continue to grow stronger in the future, too.

... reminds me of when I was growing up in TIP, during the Falklands war the Libyan news was all about how Britain was losing battle after battle, and then one day you just never heard another word. (Obviously that was at the point that the Argentinians had won so many battles they simply got bored and went home!). Of course we were listening to the BBC on shortwave to find out what was really going on.

Breakfast in BHX, lunch in FAO, dinner in TIP, baggage in YYC.
