So the following happened this afternoon: The doorbell rings at my parents' house, my mother opens and two policeman introduced themself. One of them asked: "Are you a relative of Patrick", my mother: "Yes, he is my son, what's up?", policeman replied: "His passport was found in the Rhine river in Dusseldorf yesterday". Then they asked some questions about me (e.g. when they saw me or spoke to me for the last time) gave my mother my passport and dissapeared again since everything is ok with me.
It seems that I lost the passport at DUS airport or at the airport train station, some fuckwipe found it and trew it into the Rhine after he pulled out the page with my American and Canadian immigration stamps for whatever reason.
I hope that some truck or train will run over this clown!

If you hadnt put that Polish flag into your profile I wouldnt have thrown your passport into the river. How can I know that youre still a German citizen...

Must have been a scary situation for your mother to have cops show up and ask for you.
Quoting Aloges (Reply 2): The clown and his passport, obviously.

Comedian, eh?
Quoting Myt332 (Reply 4): How far did it float downstream?
I have no idea where the guy trew it into the river and where they found it yesterday. It was apparently found by some older couple who went for a walk along the Rhine, they saw it, took it and hand it over at the next police station.

Exactly, especially because a good friend died in a car accident last week, my mother thought of something similar when the police asked for me.

Rhaaaaa passport trouble here too.
Actually I took a semester off university to backpack through europe
And then, while I was busy "tying the loose ends" and anticipating my vacation, someone suggested that I check if my passport was still valid...
What? uh...
Rhaaaaa you gessed it, just expired!
So I had to go to the embassy to renew it. I applied and they said okay come back in 6 weeks. It's not that bad, I thought, I may still have about 2 monthes to travel around... I'll keep myself busy in the meantime.
About 2 monthes/8 weeks later I point myself at the embassy, wondering why i didnt receive a call from them yet. "Ja, herr Durham vee have a problem vith your military papers" (guess what embassy that is )
So they tell me they're waiting for some authorisation related to the military service that is compulsory in my country of origin but that i didnt complete since I'm not living there.
Fast forward to 6 weeks later, still no passport, but now they say that the authorisation problem has been resolved, and I'll get my passport in .... 6 more weeks! But since they received the authorisation, they are also able to give me a temporary (1 year) passport in less time.... So I ask for that.
About one week later and fifty bucks less - exactly this morning, I finally take delivery of the temporary passport ( and there was a cute girl waiting at the embassy but I didnt dare speak to her - other story )
Anyway that leaves me about ... 1 week before summer registration begins.
Maybe I'll just make a small jump to cyprus... so long backpacking through Europe.

Sorry, it was certainly not meant in a negative way. I didnt care about him being Polish or of any other nationality, but on the fact that he is not German anymore. It would have been the same with any other flag.

Quoting LO231 (Reply 16): They wouldn't get damaged in the water, of course.
Neither do German passports, but in the Rhine river it's a different story

All the things you probably hate about travelling are warm reminders that I'm home

25 Sabena332: I noticed that, looks like a hard night with at least 30 beers or so. Patrick By the way, he can not only drink like a maniac, he is also doing good
26 DTManiac: I will do my best, my friend. I am actually quite surprised myself, but it seems like I got a run at the moment. Must be the alcohol... Frederik
27 Sabena332: Could be, I think I will also try it with drinking more. Patrick
28 Gkirk: Pff....what an idiot. The guy should have gave you your passport back.... And then he should have thrown you in the river for losing it in the first p
29 ANCFlyer: Mother's real reply, "Patrick who? Never heard of 'im"!
30 Gkirk: Either that or "Yes he is my son, but all of my life I have regretted having that idiot as a son. What has the bawbag done now?"
31 Aer Lingus: If the passport was left floating in a river for 2 months. It should look kind of weird. Do you have a pic of the condition of your passport?
32 Sabena332: I am still angry that I lost it, the new one cost 59 EUR and I am still waiting for it. I am sure that she had never told them my current whereabout
