I have Sprint cell phone service and have an Audiovox 9155 cell phone, I was given an almost brand new Audiovox 9155 cell phone, but it is for Verizon. Since Sprint and Verizon use the same cell phone technology I went to my local Sprint store and asked them if the Verizon phone can be switched over to Sprint. They said they were not allowed to switch any other phone other than issued by Sprint. They did tell me that an independent shop might be able to switch the phone over, but they were not sure.

Does any A-netter out there have any experience switching a Verizon phone to Sprint service, I am not sure if it is only a internal electronic change or does the phone have different firmware in it for Verizon

I have been very happy with my 9155 phone and do not want to change over to any newer flip or camera phones because I almost always keep it in silent mode and it is very easy to feel when it vibrates in my belt holder.

I would appreciate it if the responses are kept to the subject and not slam Sprint.

Neither of those carriers use SIM technology with that phone, so there's a firmware or some kind of flash update to be done. Check out craigslist - I've had a couple of phones that I've needed unlocked from certain networks and there were a couple of people on craigslist who advertised that service. $20 and my phone was unlocked.

It's not going to work  Sad
Sprint has a list of serial numbers that were sold by them, and sadly your vzw phone isn't going to be on there (and I don't know of any way to get an exception)
Go ahead and order a cheap Sprint phone.

What now?

If it doesn't say Sprint on the phone, they won't activate it for any reason. Sorry.
