Am I going to have to pretend to be interested in tennis for the next couple of days or something?

What's the matter with them? Play another game each. No, play two more games each. It's outrageous to give them a rest when we all want more matches. Abolish penalty shoot-outs and bring the Swiss back, they'll be playing for a fortnight without scoring anyway.

Get the Scots over to play in some kind of plate tournament - they can go up against the Faroe Islands if we need a proper, intensive level of competition.

Or bring the Americans back. That'll give them all the chance to pretend they're not interested again.

Anything, but I want football!  hissyfit

Is that an advert for the latest Robocop film or something? Are there people involved in that, or do they recruit from the Borg?

You clearly haven't been to Germany...watching football AT HOME?????? Nobody does that: 750,000 people at the Fanmile in Berlin, 75,000 people in Frankfurt at the Main-Arena, there are thousands od venues all over the country that are totally overcrowded, all the pubs, too.

It must get rather boring though. I mean, the ref must blow the whistle for handball every two seconds. Is there anyone left on the pitch by half-time?

One german car magazine did Autobahn-racing in a 911 during the final in 2002 (Germany vs Brazil)... He met only one car in 2 hours... A Ferrari. His average speed was something around 150mph

You know you're a football fan when your first reaction is not "Wow, that's impressive", but instead "You sad git. Fancy not watching the World Cup final when your team's involved."  Wink

the Americans

There that'll do, a football version of non_av, Gkirk and KROC. The outcome would be the same as it is around here too, Scotland would get the shit ripped out of them leaving them bitter and twisted.

Maybe we could put a sheep on the pitch too, for a laugh.

Somehow I'd have loved to see GER-ENG in the first knockout round, would have been much easier for us than those sassy Swedes  duck

I like Banco's idea, we should start the World Cup Plate; giving a chance for all those unworthy teams to get a run on the world stage, and rub shoulders with their heroes.

Group A
Faroe Is v Isle of Mann
Soloman Is v Fed. States of Micronesia

Group B
Scotland v Shetland Is
Andorra v Vatican City

Group C
Norfolk Is v Gibraltar
Greenland v Australian Antarctic Territory

Winners of group matches play each other, then league format where the goalie has to be a stereotypically disparaging object from that area.
