Well since they never debate anything valid or try and pass legislation that might actually be meaningful to this country and its citizens as a whole...

GOP's New `values Agenda' Item Fails

By LAURIE KELLMAN, Associated Press Writer

Wednesday, June 28, 2006

(06-28) 15:41 PDT WASHINGTON, (AP) --

House Republicans failed Wednesday to advance a bill protecting the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. Only a day earlier, the GOP had placed the measure on its "American Values Agenda" in hopes of bolstering the party's prospects in the fall election.

But Republicans could not muster a simple majority on the issue in a committee where they outnumber Democrats by six.

The legislation tries to strip federal courts of jurisdiction over cases challenging the pledge. It responds to a federal appeals court ruling in 2002 that the pledge is unconstitutional because it contains the words "under God." A district court judge made a similar ruling last fall, citing the appeals court precedent...

...On Tuesday, Senate Republican leaders failed by a single vote to pass a constitutional amendment to ban the burning of the American flag.

The GOP's "American Values Agenda" also includes a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, which died in the Senate before it even reached a vote; a prohibition on human cloning; and possibly votes on several popular tax cuts.

All I can say is... WTF??

Lets review shall we, recently we've seen the Republican congress...

- Fail to pass a constitutional amendment to ban flag burning.
- Fail to pass a bill protecting the words "under god" in the pledge.
- Spent a day debating... the New York Times.
- Spend time passing a resolution showing support for the troops, as if people don't support them.
- Push for a gay marriage amendment.
- Look foolish on Santorum's WMD fiasco.
- etc. etc. etc.

Is this what we elected our representatives to do? Yes, I'll say it, is this what Republicans elected their representatives to do?? When will Republicans stand up and vote for REAL Republicans who take a stand on real issues instead of having an agenda called the "American Values Agenda". How about taking a real stand on education, poverty, social security, medicare, the war in Iraq, the humanitarian crisis in Darfur, etc. etc. etc.?

Hold your congressmen responsible for this ridiculousness. These thugs care about nothing but themselves as is evidenced by this crap.

1/2 of this country is too stupid and gullible to care. Probably stupid and gullible enough to vote a Republican back into the whitehouse in 2008.

My issue is not even voting Republican or Democrat. My issue is that people need to start voting for candidates that stand for REAL issues, not this crap that our congress has been doing. How are ANY of the issues I mentioned above remotely beneficial to the people of this country? Why aren't they legislating on matters of peace, health care, and education? Why not try and find a viable solution to social security? Why not push for a balanced budget?

Instead, they have us worried about the evils of terrorism (the fluke of the Miami seven) and this apparently crucial so called "moral agenda".

So much BS it makes my head hurt.

Being a Canadian I'm sorry but I just laugh my ass off at this.

If the Candian conservatives ever try this crap I hope the Canadian people wil prevent it from becoming what it is in the US.

Ponder that for a moment.
