The Brazilian loss was a surprise, but the English one was just plain stupidity. They let that one go and have no one to blame but themselves.

I can't wait to see the face of the big boss at work on Monday (he's from England).

Portugal just showed that they can continue with the success they had in the last Euro (04), their keeper is da bomb when it comes to penalties!

France? -> "The Zizou show", he and his team were awesome today, the second half was world-class football!

I really hope Portugal can beat France, or Italy/Germany can beat them in the Final. I just have a natural distaste in my mouth for the French.  Silly

Patrick: I watched the last game in the city centre here and there were a bunch of french frogs in the restaurant/bar yelling "rouge" "rouge" everytime brazil got a yellow. After the 4 Carlsbergs I had the words "rouge" sounded even more pussy to me than ever before.

Well Lehmann put Germany through, Henry put France through, and how many Arsenal players took (and missed) penalties for England? None. That shows you something  Wink

I am not sure about the way you got home tonight, but I think that you rather stole a car and drove home drunk, or you took a taxi but didn't pay the driver (who tired to tell you that you have to pay in Euro and not in Zlotys).

Whats funny is that I thought the taxi fare on the display was the time! Thats when I realized I was really wasted when I pondered why it siad 15.20 and it was dark outside.

England lost because their big players failed to turn up, and it went to penalties again, penalties and England don't belong in the same sentence. Brazil's loss wasn't a suprise, i expected them to give France a game, but again, they have brilliant individuals like England, but they haven't gelled as a team. Disappointed to see Brazil eliminated so early, they are part of the world cup furniture, but the best team won. The Arsenal heroics continue, Lehmann for Germany, Henry for France.  Smile

No need to - I've always supported "the Americans" when they were doing something worthwile (see that other thread)!  bigthumbsup

Or anybody else, for that matter; I was cheering for the good actions of the polish team as well when they were playing against our own team, even though I was happy that our guys finally made it through (and even deserved it!).

It's not (just) about whether you win or lose, but to a large degree also about how you do it!  bigthumbsup

Ahh, children... My sister is currently wearing an England wristband in one hand, and a Brazil one in the other. She was really upset when England lost earlier today... She went to see the Brazil game at grandma's, so I haven't seen her since. I don't think she'll be too happy when she comes back, especially when I start singing "na na nah nah, your team lost..." Big grin

Before I get flamed for setting a bad example as the oldest sister, she did the same yesterday after the Argentina game.  grumpy

I think it is imperative that Brazil gets off their butt and wow FIFA with their World Cup plans. If they can't do it then Argentina.

I don't care if Brazil wins the World Cup, but at least a World Cup in South America would guarantee that all the Europeans would be sent packing home by the quarter finals, as surely that Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Paraguay, Ecuador, and Chile (plus Mexico from North America), would be in the final 8.

Derico, I just suggested your post to be deleted because you're just saying this to bash us Europeans. I've seen your other posts where you continued with this bashing.

Please, knock it off with your Europe bashing!

It would indeed seem fitting to have a World Cup (again) in either of those two...!

You'd still have to play well enough to get there! If the german team had expected to get in just on past merits, they'd have been kicked out as well - and many german fans would probably have applauded their opposition! Strong support for the "home team" can probably make a difference, but I'd say the quality of the team is still more important...!

I can see a southern american WC as a massively exciting event - so good luck for the bid and the preparations!  bigthumbsup
