It turns out that the Virgin Atlantic boss actually is to appear in Casino Royale, with new Bond Daniel Craig. The entrepreneur and his son Sam, 19, will appear in a scene set in Miami Airport.

Sir Richard said: "Barbara Broccoli (the film's producer) contacted me to ask if I'd like to do a cameo role in Bond and I think she was quite keen I'd brought one of my bigger toys with me, which is a Virgin Atlantic plane."

It's not the only blockbuster bit part the father and son have landed. They also pop up in Superman Returns. Sir Richard added: "The producer... chose to use a Virgin Galactic spaceship in the Superman film and he asked us... if we'd like to pilot the ship."

Of his acting, he added: "It was just a tiny little spot and you most likely won't even notice that we're there, but it was a fun little thing."

Is there anything this guy won't do?

Who wouldn't want to do that? Yeah, he's crazy for wanting a role in a film that will be seen by millions of people for years.

Would Bond be flying with Virgin? As cool as it is to have Sir Richard in the film, it just doesn't seem right. Bond has always gone BA.

I heard about this I think it is in one of the other forums

He flew British Caledonian in Never Say Never Again.

Strange. Most people get paid to play a cameo role but Branson is happy to bring one of his bigger toys in return for a part. Enough said!

I just don't think people will believe it. Bond and Virgin in the same sentence? Never happen. Well, I guess you could say he's riding Virgin, but still...
