Just read the story....

At least George W's handlers have not had to worry about this particular problem before!!!

If that doesn't raise a  redflag  or two, I'd be surprised.

Putin isn't friend with Michael Jackson is he?

Reminds of some footage I saw from one of his trips to Japan. He was in a Judo dojo where a full class was lined up, fully equiped for action, in front of him. Putin (which is a Judo black belt himself and was wearing a suit and tie) asked a teenage girl who was there to throw him over her shoulder (basically apply him a judo technique). I don't think I can begin to describe the stunned look on the girl's face, filled with terror... I bet she was thinking "boy, if I screw this up those Russian body-guards over there look awfully unfriendly."

This is certainly odd! I am sure Putin had good intentions, but...

I mean... WTF? Confused

I am only surprised that Vova didn't be his usual self and tell it how it is - it was nothing more than a 'baby kissing' PR exercise.

He wasn't in suit and tie, but rather judo uniform

Well, the Russians kiss everybody everywhere, that doesn't look so odd in Russia.

If anyone else would have done that they'd be arrested for a child sex crime.

Cultural difference !

We've all been so sensitized to "inappropriate behavior" , we practically have social workers surveilling every bath and diaper change.

Our teachers (my daughter is one) are warned it can cost them their jobs if they touch a child - even to save that child's life.

It's a bit strange (in our eyes), but it's oddly refreshing to see someone in the public eye secure enough to be playfully affectionate with a child.

Putin used to practice Judo on competitive level. AFAIK, he won some pretty serious championships when he was younger.

Has Michael Jackson been hanging around Putin recently?  biggrin  When I heard described what he did it made me cringe (shudder). More than I want to know!

That's exactly how it is.

Not everyone jumps up because a boy is kissed ... I don't see why this should raise red flags. Not everyone kissing a kid must be a sexual offender. Political correctness and "inappropriate behaviour" are really getting out of control IMHO.

Mr Putin came across Nikita, five, in the Kremlin last week, lifted up his T-shirt and suddenly kissed him.

"He seemed very independent and serious... I wanted to cuddle him like a kitten and it came out in this gesture. He seemed so nice," he said.

Russia's Izvestia newspaper, which later found Nikita, reported that he had refused to wash after the kiss.

"I just liked him [Mr Putin] and he liked me very much. I want to be president myself," the boy was quoted by the daily as saying.

People kiss little babies this way, but not five year old strangers. But I really do think it was spontaneous, just an emotional thing.

Youtube has a nice video clip of it:
