Tomorrow, Friday July 7th , South Africa will launch the logo for South Africa 2010 followed by a huge concert in Berlin.

I am impatient to see what the emblem will look like. The only thing I know is that the logo is very likely to contain the world cup desgin as the current Germany 2006 emblem has(which was the emblem of Korea/Japan) and is now the official emblem of the FIFA much like the olympic rings

07/07 - Genius. What a day to pick. Maybe it didn't mean much to South Africans but it means a fair bit to Londoners.

Doesn't it show that terrorists aren't able to stop normal, daily life?

Yes, it does.

I hope their World Cup logo won't be as embarrassing as the one introduced by the German World Cup organising committee.

^^ Damn, that logo is horrible, what the hell were they thinking? I hope South Africa will do better than Germany in the World Cup Art Department.

I always wondered, were the graphic designers taking a trip when they designed that logo? Because they smilies in the logo sure look like they're high.

As South Africa is the "Rainbow Nation" I'm going to guess that it could involve that idea in the emblem.

Here it is:

The FIFA World Cup thing and all the blue/purple seems a bit out of place and could have been changed a bit so it fits better, but overall, I like it!

Looks good actually!

I am curious how the mascot will look, a lion would fit since there are hundreds of them living in South Africa.  scratchchin

I'm sure South Africa will come up with something better than that thing named Goleo.  Wink

Now that must be one of the nicest emblems there has ever been. I knew they would come up with something to do with Africa(here you can see there is the shape of Africa). I also expected the fonts to have to be of the African style like shown there. I am very pleased with South Africa's logo. WAY TO GO!

The South African logo is nice... though I still prefer the one they had for the failed Olympic bid...
