Not much info on this story... but early this morning a man turned up at the police station in Benwell Grove and told them where they could locate 4 bodies. He admitted to have killed the 4 people aged between 40-70, but so far I have yet to find any other info on the case.

Btw, where in Newcastle is Benwell Grove? I'm not familliar with that place.

That's terrible  Sad Though he turned himself in (and will probably just get sent off to a psych ward), what kind of psycho do you have to be to do such a thing?!

Looking forwards to hear why exactly he killed and turned himself in afterwards...

Does England have a death penalty? If so he would be a prime candidate. We would execute that guy in TX, no questions asked.

Jesus, I wish criminals in the U.S. were so easy to put away...

Maybe the guy has mental problems and is not responsible for his actions. If this is the case then he should be confined to a psychiatric institution for the rest of his life. That is for the court to decide.

I'm not from Texas but I know they don't just execute people on a whim. I know people from Texas and I think you do not speak for all Texans or Americans as well. Furthermore, maybe you ought to do some research before making an outlandish statement like you just did.

For your information TX leads the nation in executions. We average 2 per month by the time the end of the year rolls around. TX does not allow for a "temporary insanity" defense. So ya in all likelihood this guy would get the needle! And rightfully so!

Only norwegian ones... newspaper websites. They kinda gave me the impression that the man knew the people he killed, but I dunno.

You missed the point. In this case do you know if the guy has psychiatric problems? Have you read the article posted by Thom@s? Personally, I think a sane individual who commits horrific crimes should be executed. Executions should only be performed when the evidence is indisputable. I can't help but wonder how many innocent people would die if it were up to you and others of your mentality.

Thx for the link and it must be very unnerving, indeed, to know this crime happened close to your family. Wow! Have you contacted them today to see if they're ok?

Will talk to them tomorrow. I'm sure they are a bit shocked, but they will get over it soon I bet. (Probably a bit scary for my 7 year old sister, but hope it won't affect her too much...)

He had a bag containing a handgun with a silencer, a pump-action shotgun, a quantity of ammunition and an improvised explosive device, described by police as a "thunder flash with nails around it".

Sounds like he had more firepower than the police.

He was an ex military guy with a mental disorder. How the hell did he manage to get such weapons?

I'm an ex military guy (without any mental disorder as far as I know) and all I have is some used ammo from shooting practice...
