They ended the broadcast of the World Cup game before the CELEBRATIONS and the medal handouts!! How stupid can ABC be? The single most important game of the planet and after we know who won, they stop the broadcast of the trophy/medal handouts and the team celebrations to switch to GOLF!!!. The celebrations is as important as the game. I couldn't believe it. Idiots. I had to go to other channels.

Welcome to UHF network TV.It's nothing new.The most infamous
cut-off,was the Oakland Raiders great comeback victory.
The network wrote the game off, felt Oakland had lost, and
switch programming during the game.Boy,did the network hear about that one!

Tiger Woods playing golf will fetch higher TV ratings than watching a post-game ceremony on another continent...smart move from a business aspect.

I don't know what I was watching, but one of the two, ESPN and ABC broadcasted the entire deal. There was a golf tournament going on, and I think they switched it once or showed the golf in between the breaks.

No, they didn't. I guess how stupid can you be? They switched to a golf update for like a minute in between the two. If you turned it off then, sucks for you.

Kinda like the Oakland incident...how ironic. Indeed though, the whole ceremony was broadcast on ABC, so I don't know what the thread starter is talking about. Seems like HE gave up to early...*again, like the Oakland incident*

So then why did I take the time to get up go to the computer and start a pointless thread, even if they had updates the point is that they should have had the whole thing on, if you looked at other channels and the mexican channels they didn't take any breaks they just showed the ceremony, who cares about golf when it's one of the most important games out there?

Yes, probably because they have to, since the PGA is a huge money-maker for the networks. They probaby HAD to cut back to the golf as soon as they could. It wasn't stupid, it was economics.

Boo hoo. Again, the PGA bring in more money to ABC than the "single most important game of the planet".

My fricken GOD who CARES??!!!??!!!
It's fricken soccer for crying out loud! It's kick and chase! They kick the ball....and everyone chases after it for 90 minutes....Unless the referee decides to just add some time at the end for whatever the fuck he wants to add it for. I simply cannot STAND kick and chase for that reason. Let's just....ADD time to a game! That'b be like in a major league baseball game, the umpire doing the following:
Bottom of the 9th, and it's 1-0, visitors on top. 3rd out happens, but the umpire stops everyone, and adds an inning because: There was a rain delay in the sixth, and after the sixth inning both pitchers struggled a little, and had to make a change, leading to a few hits which scored the only run for the visiting team. So, because of that 40 minute rain delay, we're going to add one more inning, JUST to make it fair.

The local TV stations sell the advertisement time. Since the World Cup in the USA is as popular as watching dead baby autopsies, the time was selling for $5 a minute. Golf sells for $2000 a minute. If you're the station manager, what would you choose to televise?

I love it how a couple Americans always feel the need to come to a football thread just to tell everyone how they don't care about "soccer". Should I do the same in threads about baseball, American football, basketball and hockey?
