I have cable, pushing 750kb. I will never go back to a phone line, never ever, ever, never ever, ever ever ever, EVER EVER EVER, use a phone line once you have witnessed true performance. (You will be pulling your hairs out in frustration). Plus its nice to keep the phone line clear.

I am on my laptop right now using AOL, so I'm getting a 52K download speed at the moment. My desktop which is in pieces while I put in a new video card, more RAM, and a new HD is usually on a cable. My cable would be getting about 3MB/s right now since it is 1:30AM on a Saturday night. Normal is about 1.5 to 2MB/s. To be honest I don't mind dial up, it's just when I want to download music or games and such that I really miss the cable connection.

Actually, I powered up the desktop and tried downloading some stuff & can't get better than 950kb... so my prediction was a touch high.

I have a lousy phone line...56K modem, but I only get a 28K connection speed, and It will only download at 3-5 kbps. Plus I am constantly getting knocked off...crummy phone line .

I also use cable, however my download speeds rearly exceed 200k/second. Its the fault of the servers though, not mine. Still the speed is amazing, compared to 56k.
p.s. I doubt you guys get 950kb/sec or 2-3mb/sec download speeds...either my connection really stinks(unlikely) or someones trying to sound cool.
