Tallinn, Estonia: Around 15 EEK per litre, or (if I calculated right) around $4.60-$4.70/gallon. Probably one of the cheapest in the EU. I really can't see how Americans have the nerve to call their fuel 'expensive'

I agree, relative to other prices, US gasoline is cheap. However, the US (and many others) have seen the near tripling of gasoline prices in the last three years.

Quoting IFEMaster (Reply 16): I paid $3.74 per gallon of regular unleaded at Chevron this morning
they must have a CA or OC penalty. I have no clue why you pay so much more. Back in 2002? (not for certain the exact year) I bought at Chevron in SF and paid $2.29 and a week later I'm in Fairbanks AK and it's $1.61. I like to purchase Chevron but they are so freaking high even here in Texas.

Yeah, I think there is something added on in CA, to do with state-specific emission controls or something. Not sure exactly what it is, but I do notice whenever I hire a car out of state that gas is much cheaper elsewhere.
