WHats going on in Scotland, why are we supporting Israel all of a sudden? First we let the US send bombs through Prestwick, now we are donating RAF cricket pitches to the Israeli cricket team!
Whats next, send them a few trident subs???
PS: Dont discuss the Middle East conflict here, use the proper thread. Just discuss scotlands support...

It's something that has probably been organised for some time, and sport. So it really shouldn't be grouped in with the Lebanese action. Unless Scotland has severed diplomatic ties with Israel?

how is one supposed to defend Israel's relationship w/ Scotland without discussing the current crisis. Presumably you're only slighting Israel b/c of its recent behavior, not any kind of rejection of its existance ???

Quoting Skidmarks (Reply 1): Unless Scotland has severed diplomatic ties with Israel?
Unless there is such thing as "Scottish diplomacy" to begin with.
Good point, the words "Scottish" and "Diplomacy" don't actually go together do they?
However, back to my original point. It's a game, a sport, that has been planned well in advance of the current crisis, and as such should go ahead. Otherwise you are simply allowing politics to dictate sporting fixtures. And wether it goes ahead or not is totally irrelevant to the situation as it stands.
Perhaps instead of trying to ban it, disrupt it or otherwise interfere, the "protesters" should actually try talking to the sportsmen concerned and simply appraise them of their concerns. Otherwise imposing their will on the sport is simply another method of getting their own way and leaves the field wide open for interference in anything they disagree with.

Perhaps its nothing to do with politics and everything to do with the Scots sensing a rare victory in ANY sport

You know you're scraping the barrel when the best sporting achievement of your country is a game played on elephants, and a trophy which you were entered into because you couldn't actually get in the world cup!

Say something when John Hartson reckoned a lower english league team like West Brom was a better bet than Celtic

Nighthawk what is the big deal? Scotland is supporting Israel because Jews are playing cricket in Scotland?
Israel is being threatened by Iran and Hezbollah with genocide and it's a big deal that 2 planes land in Glasgow with weapons to save a nation from a 2nd holocaust?
Anyway don't worry Menzies Campbell MP from Scotland is doing a great job in the British Parliament fighting against Israel.

Gkirk keep the Haggis and the good weather in Scotland / George Gallaway land. I am sure the US will find another more hospitable airport. Thanks.
