I do not watch the Dr. Phil show but today I caught a glimpse of something that upset me more than I have ever been by a TV show. The show was about a mother who constantly beat her 2 oldest children. They showed a video of her in the morning pushing, cursing at, beating, kicking and yelling at her son. The whole thing made me extremely upset. The one part showed when she put her son (10) into his room to try and hit him, she picked him up by his sweater, tore it and "accidently" dropped him. She didn't believe he had hit his knee and then she kicked him in the back of the leg out the door. The part that just made me wince was the boy pleaded "please, stop, mommy it hurts, please stop it". I am usually not someone to show much emotion but this made me cry and feel sick to my stomach.

Pictures from the video and a transcript are here. http://drphil.com/shows/show/725/

Please, if you have a soft heart or are very emotional do not read the transcript. The video (not available online) was worse. It's really upseting to see what child abuse in progress looks like. I read so many articles over the years of kids dieing in pain from this but seeing the abuse just made me SICK.

Those kids should be taken away until their parents can display a little bit of self-control. This behaviour is utterly inexcusable from a parent.

So other than sensationalism and ratings, why was this on Dr. Phil? It should have gone directly to CPS, and the kids should have been immediately taken into protective custody.

17+ pages in 2-3 hours on this 1 episode. THe whole thing has put me off for tonight. I take comfort in knowing that it was on national TV and someone will definetly handle these people and get the kids out. My dad could get very very upset and hurt me emotionally (just be seeing him angry) but it wasn't a hundreth of what this mom did. I used to think very little of Dr. Phil and his show but my views have changed.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Yes and now they have proof enough to come to arrest and lock her up for a few years (if we're lucky) and to hopefully send the two sons to live with a foster family.

Both parents should be arrested and should be banned from living with or even having children.

I dont believe the children should live with the grandma too as violence to your self from your parents could result in believing harming your own children is acceptable, so the grandma could be the same, if not worse as the mum.

This is one of the many reasons people like Dr. Phil make me sick. All for the sake of ratings......

When I hear of parental abuse like this, I am reminded of the quote Keanu Reaves delivered in the movie Parenthood:

"You know, Mrs. Buckman, you need a license to buy a dog, to drive a car - hell, you even need a license to catch a fish. But they'll let any butt-reaming ass*ole be a father."

It was the mother who did this while the father was at work.

How nieve of you. The dad knew everything and even beat the kids himself. The guy brought home a beating stick and the kids themselves said he has hit them. The guy was such a faker going on TV and sitting there with no emotion whatsover as he watches the video of his wife. You have to have seen the show to understand how upsetting it was to me. If you can watch that show without shedding a tear you really have no sensitivity.

I saw the same show a few months ago....and I agree it was probably the worst case of abuse I have seen on TV. What I couldn't believe was that her husband....had no clue of what went on and he was even mean to the children, I think he had a dam wooden spoon he would use on them.

Parents like that should be locked up for life. The damage they have done to those poor innocent kids is just awful!

Absolutely pathetic parents. The parents need to be locked up ASAP.

Utterly terrible and unexcusable. CPS should become involved and hopefully they can place the children with a responsible relative. Both parents should be prosecuted for their actions. Unfortunately, the foster home system has its problems as well so there is no real ideal remedy as far as the children are concerned. That said, they do need to be removed from the immediate situation.

Question
how old was the mother? if she is a teenager, then it probably down to her lack of paranting, and probably not practised in the family.
if this is the case,it sickens me,some of todays teenagers have no parenting skills what so ever and never think of this before they get pregnant.

Questions that they should ask themselfs before they even think of starting a family.

Q1, whats in volved in being a mum for the first time?
Q2,would i cope.
Q3 will my parents help and stand by me?
Q4,my parents didnt look after me well, how would i know if i can be a good mother?
Q5 will by boyfriend stand by me all the way.

things like this, most of the time are not asked,or not put into consideration which leads to this sort of thing happening to young parents who dont have the experts advise to hand,or they think they have it down to a T,but most of the time they dont, hence the reason why this sort of thing happends.

thats my oppinion, if anyone wants to correct me on any of this feel free.

dave

She is clearly troubled with anger and needs to see a doctor.
