Anyone Interested?

I am in the early stages of planning an a.net meet Keflavik, Iceland, for either January or February 2007.

Amongst spotting, we have an opportunity to explore the city of Reykjavík, complete with the great nightlife it can offer. Yes, I know this is a few months away, but this opportunity is not one to be sniffed at

Chances are not many people have anything booked for early next year, so many of us could all hook up

We have a good catchment area to start with - FI serve BWI, BOS, SFB, MSP, JFK, SFO and also BWI, so i'm sure many of you guys from the states and Canada could connect from one of these points

We also have 16 cities in europe from which to poach a.netters

For our friend Skidmarks, we have the generous offer of being able to fly him in Saga Class (yes thats what its called!) so he shall surely be very comfortable

So, who is interested and also, we need an idea on dates for Jan or Feb 2007

Lee

I'd vote for some warmer months with longer days, I was there in March and the weather was well, unpleasant....

Besides I want to combine it with a visit to BOS, January is not the month I'd go..

Firstly, why not do this in August? What's the point when it's dark most of the time?

Secondly, FI flights tend to be really expensive, so we should book in advance.

Generally, I might come.

Usually FI is the cheapest way from MSP to Europe, and I could make a stopover in Iceland for this meet before heading off to Europe  Smile

I am definately interested.

Aurora borealis/northern light, for instance. It's stunningly beautiful, hopefully it can be observed in Iceland which is farther south than where I've seen it.

Oh, and what's the point of sleeping in a tent on permafrost soil?  Wink

The thing though, tickets are probably cheaper in Jan/Feb as it is low season, rather than August (peak season)

Icelandair can be tricky to find a good price on. Sometimes they are extremely cheap, other times more average. I ordered a ticket three days before travelling and went roundtrip MSP-OSL-MSP in April for $520.
