OK, this has been driving me mad for ages now and want to do something about it.

When we started to use broadband, our ISP, BT Yahoo! sent us a modem and the relivent software etc like most ISP's do. So we installed the software etc, which included a browser which BT Yahoo! use and I just hate it. I do have IE6 still though, which I use all the time.

My problem is when using Windows Live Messenger and when right clicking on things like the Widget Icon in my System Tray and clicking the link for more widgets, the computer decides to use the BT Yahoo! browser and not IE6. I can't seem to find anything to overide it and make the computer use IE6.

This is what the BT Yahoo! browser looks like:

Does anybody know how I can sort the problem out?

Thanks
Tom.

Maybe you have to configure your IE as your default browser like before. To do so, right click on a html icon then choose 'open with...' > 'choose program' and select IE, mark 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file...

I have done that and it works with the HTML files on my computer, but it doesn't solve the problem of when I right click the link within the Widget Icon in the System Tray, and it also doesn't solve the problem when I click link in Messenger.

Have never seen that advert but think that it is amazing ROFL

I use Firefox for web browsing and think that it is amazing. I can't wait for Firefox 2 to come out with built in spell checker etc

Try opening Internmet Explorer and then clicking “tools” and “Internet options”. In the new window that appears click programs and then “make default”. Alphafloor also gave advice which is probably a different way of achieving the same thing. Good luck

Matt

Try this: Click Start then "Set Program Access and Defaults". Open "Custom" and under "Choose a default web browser" select "IE".

You're still using IE, which is the browser of choice for myspace kids and AOL soccer moms.

Throw that thing out of the window (whoa, nice pun) and install a real browser.

I must agree, Firefox is the best thing ever to happen to the web (well, after a.net...  Wink )

Don't expect to see me around that much (if at all) -- the contact link should still work, though.
