Country Singer Charged With Killing A Tame Bear

http://wcco.com/topstories/local_story_227181725.html

Read what this idiot did, what a tool. I hope he gets the max. I love hunting and fishing, but this is so not right. To "hunt" an animal when it's still inside it's pen is so gutless and lazy. What a loser

I looked him up, he 1/2 of the Montgomery Gentry duo, apparently doing quite well on the country charts.

Real man huh? That's debatable. Give the bear a rifle too then it might be more of a sport.

Why not tranquilize it first while you're at it?

Well, if I read that article right (more to the point - if they WROTE it right) he tagged the bear before he shot it. So there is the perfect punishment. Take him somewhere where bears roam free and have him repeat that stunt - tag a bear before he shoots it.

I'm no fan of hunting for trophies or sport. I have no problem with hunting for food. Frankly a deer I shoot has a better life and death than a slaughterhouse cow. But this guy is disgusting.

Quoting Andz (Reply 8):

A bear hardly needs a rifle to defend itself. The bumper sticker "Support the right to arm bears" overlooks the fact that bears are heavily armed. The only reason people kill more bears than vice versa is because many (but not all) people are a lot smarter than bears. This guy seems to be an exception.

BTW if you'd read the article you'd know that he used a bow and arrow, not a rifle.

I think it has more to do with the fact that you can be a hundred metres away and still kill the bear.

Imagine that, someone turned this into a anti-hunting thread. I'm not going to comment on whether hunting is good/bad as that argument is on the same playing field of Roe vs Wade. Simply not worth it.

That is still only because we are smarter. Bears had every opportunity to invent the gun and even the helicopter.

Anyway, what I really mean by smart in humans is avoiding confrontation with bears unless they, the humans, are adequately armed or equipped for flight.

I'll make you a deal.

You can come down to my ranch when ever you feel like and take all my hogs away. That way I won't have to hunt them anymore, and they'll stop screwing up my property. We both win.

BTW: I know of at least two 400lb+ boars that are still free on the property, so... you better come up with a very effective, humane way of getting them to leave. Good luck.

Apparently he did this 2 years ago, and has just been indited in a Federal court. It is one thing to go out and hunt bears in the wild legally, but this is just stupid and really inhumane. A real man goes hunting by the rules. A phony man cheats. What fun is it to kill an animal in this way. At least let it have a chance to make you work for it. Isn't that part of the enjoyment of hunting. I bet Ted Nugent is pissed at this guy.
