Cancun´s Dec-Jan Weather

Today I was booking for holidays in Cancun for last days of December and first week on January but the lady in the travel agency just told me that don´t waste my money on that because the weather in Cancun is not good at all during that season. I wanted to combine Mexico City and Cancun, now I´m thinking in something different. Any comments on the Cancun´s weather in that dates?

Cancun will be warm though just not real hot tempature wise, my past experience would be high 70's low 80's during the day and high 60's at night.
